Continue ReadingDuncanville moved one step closer to the state championship with their convincing 56-28 win over cross-town rival, Desoto, this past Saturday night. This game was big for many reasons and was very highly-anticipated, even though Duncanville’s dominance deflated some of the hype, it was still absolutely loaded with talent. Desoto didn’t end the season how they had hoped but had a great season and their program is doing a lot of things right as you will read, they are churning out the college talent year in and year out. Duncanville and their long list of prospects get to fight another day as they will face another DFW area powerhouse, the Southlake Dragons next week.
Desoto
Devyn Bobby Devyn Bobby 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB DeSoto | 2022 State TX (2022 FS) Bobby has the skills and the instincts to make plays all over the field in pass & run defense for the Eagles. He is one of those players with a knack for turnovers, the ball seems to find him because he is always in position. The fact he can cover like a corner and has hands like a receiver makes him very alluring to college programs. When his number is called to help in the run game or lay the wood in the secondary, he does it with violence and solid tackling technique. Illinois State has offered Bobby, while Houston, Cal, and Rice are showing serious interest.
Jerand Bradley Jerand Bradley 6'5" | 215 lbs | WR DeSoto | 2021 TX (2021 WR) Bradley had 5 catches for just under 50 yards against a stingy Duncanville defense. This 6’5 /205 pound WR has great fluidity and speed, runs crisp routes, and has soft hands. The danger doesn’t stop when he catches the ball, he has great open field skills and can rack up the yards after catch. This Texas Tech commit had a long list of suitors, but it’s always a wise choice for offensive skill players to head out west to Lubbock and rack up some touchdowns!
Shemar Turner Shemar Turner 6'4" | 275 lbs | DL DeSoto | 2021 State TX (2021 DE) Turner was a bright spot Saturday night, grabbing a sack and a TFL. His athleticism and strength combo made Turner one of the most sought after recruits of the 2021 class. Turner followed in the footsteps of some other defensive end from Desoto, maybe you heard of him, some cat named Von Miller?!?! Like Miller, Turner will go down to College Station to play for the Fighting Texas Aggies, who have had a lot of success developing NFL defensive lineman.
Lathan Adams Lathan Adams 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB DeSoto | 2021 TX (2021 CB) Adams has disruptive hands, if he can get the pick himself, he makes sure the WR cant catch the ball. Great closing speed and looks like he was made to play corner with almost flawless technique. Good feet and can open his hips and turn when it’s time to fly, just very impressed by this young man’s knowledge and ability. Adams signed with Colorado State, surprising some who expected him to hand around DFW area and play for SMU.
Samari Collier Samari Collier 6'3" | 215 lbs | QB DeSoto | 2021 TX (2021 QB) Collier is so dynamic with his legs and huge arm, it was surprising that Duncanville was able to hold him in check Saturday night. The norm is for Collier to light up defenses with his arm first and then if he has to tuck and run, he can. Due to his athletic ability and speed, it’s fair to call him a duel threat, but Collier wants to throw first. He has an absolute cannon and throws well on the move, whether designed roll-outs or throwing while scrambling to extend a play. Collier has inked his LOI with Illinois, and will surely have a bright future.
Byron Murphy Byron Murphy 6'1" | 305 lbs | DL DeSoto | 2021 TX (2021 DT) Murphy is a wrecking ball upfront, but it’s not fair that a man this powerful has such speed and explosion. His low center of gravity and great leverage makes his bull rush almost impossible to block. The fact the he has such speed makes him a versatile tool at the next level with plenty of position flex. Murphy signed with the University of Texas and will be a welcomed addition to the new coaching staff down in Austin.
Brandon Tucker Brandon Tucker 5'11" | 220 lbs | LB DeSoto | 2021 TX (2021 LB) Tucker had a solid performance Saturday night making several plays for Desoto’s defense. Tucker plays with great flow and knows how to fit in the run game very well. There is no quit in the linebacker, he gets his defense in the right positions and then plays and leads with passion. Tucker has speed, instincts, and the ability to end plays with his sound tackling. Tucker is entertaining offers from; Navarro, SAGU, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Friends University, Wayland Baptist, and Arkansas Pine Buff.
Duncanville
Roderick Daniels Roderick Daniels 5'9" | 180 lbs | WR Duncanville | 2021 TX (2021 WR) Daniels went OFF Saturday night vs Desoto with eight catches for a season-high 267 yards and a touchdown. This speedster with great hands and crisp routes has signed with SMU. The pony’s are getting an absolute star, this duel sport track star can blow the lid off any defense around the state, that probably won’t change at the next level either.
Check out this effort after the catch by @SMU_Football signee Roderick Daniels Jr. to get ball all the way to DeSoto 27.#txhsfb @SportsDayHS @dctf @Duncanville_Fb @DuncanvilleISD @FootballDesoto @ih pic.twitter.com/I3jAU5HpLf

Jaylen Early Jaylen Early 6'4" | 260 lbs | OL Duncanville | 2022 State TX (2022 OL) Early plays with good leverage and knows how to use the angles for his benefit. This big man can also pull and block and space with the best, he keeps his feet and has great vision when pulling. Has strong hands and good push on run blocks, as this young man continues to grow and get stronger, the sky is the limit because he possesses a full toolkit any offensive lineman would love to have. The list of D1 programs after Early is too long to list but includes blue bloods such as; Alabama, A&M, OU, Texas, USC, LSU, and Ohio State.
Tyler Quinn Tyler Quinn 6'3" | 280 lbs | DL Duncanville | 2021 TX (2021 DL) Quinn had a big night against Desoto, racking up several tackles, TFL’s, pass breakups and a sack. This disruptive big man lives in the opponent’s backfield with his great explosion off the ball. Strong upper body and good hands allow him to shed blockers and make plays for his defense. Position flex is also one of Quinn’s biggest assets and regardless if he is playing inside or out, the skill set is there to make plays at all positions. Quinn signed with Colorado State and will be a force for the Rams.
Marcus Vinson Marcus Vinson 6'4" | 215 lbs | TE Duncanville | 2022 State TX (2022 TE) This 6-4/230 pound underclassman is built like a prototype tight end and has all the scouts dreaming of how high the ceiling could be. Vinson is an old school TE that will beat you up blocking and then burn you in the pass game. The big man has great speed and soft hands, but the offensive lineman in me just loves watching him blow up defenders in the run game. So far in his recruitment the lone D1 school showing serious interest is Kansas, but I honestly expect that to change soon.
Kevon Ivy Kevon Ivy 6'5" | 260 lbs | DL Duncanville | 2021 TX (2021 DE) Ivy is a very talented, and disciplined defensive end that never gives up on the play. Ivy holds contain and strings out plays on his end unselfishly to help his defense. But, when Ivy’s number is called to make a play, he will make you regret it, he is a strong and violent player. He blows up pulling guards and tackles to free up his linebackers to make plays, Ivy is one smart and unselfish player! Ivy had a long list of teams after him but decided to sign with UNLV.
Grayson James Grayson James 6'3" | 225 lbs | QB Duncanville | 2021 TX (2021 QB) James had a fun night vs Desoto as he passed for 471 yards with 3 touchdowns! This young man reminds me of Tony Romo with his ability to spin out of trouble, scramble, and then throw a strike with a quick release. Duncanville’s offense is not a dink and dunk attack, they push the ball downfield, and that’s what makes Jame’s 70% completion percentage insane! QB1 can spin it and is the real deal. James has offers from Central Michigan, Liberty, Louisiana-Monroe, Miami (OH), and San Jose State.
Savion Byrd Savion Byrd 6'7" | 320 lbs | DL Duncanville | 2021 State TX (2021 OL/DL) Byrd is a big mauler on both sides of the ball, and pushed Desoto all around the football field Saturday night in Arlington. Standing at 6-7 and a cardholder in the 300 pounder club, it is always fascinating to see a big man with such athleticism and good feet. Byrd plays with a raw power and strength that overpowers his competition and looks to be college-ready on day 1. Byrd was highly recruited but has narrowed his decision down to 5 offers; Auburn, LSU, OU, SMU, and Texas.
Kendrick BlackShire Kendrick BlackShire 6'2" | 250 lbs | LB Duncanville | 2021 State TX (2021 LB) Duncanville’s defense is loaded, we have established that so far in this film session… but then there is the beast, the alfa, the man! Blackshire is scary good, with speed and explosion that jump off the tape. A violent finisher who appears to play out of control, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth as he is extremely intelligent and always puts himself in a position to make a play. Great finisher, a great pass defender, and just flat out a great football player. Like most recruiting battles for the best of the best, the University of Alabama won out… I can’t wait to watch Blackshire at the next level.
