They have given the only state in the Midwest, who hasn’t played in the fall, multiple opportunities to showcase their talents for collegiate scouts and give them great coaching to get better. Once again they held a fantastic camp, their annual MLK Day Showcase, which ended up at the Sparta Dome in Crown Point, Indiana. The event brought kids from all over the Midwest, so here are the top performing quarterbacks and running backs.
2022 Tight end Casey Morrison, Wheaton North, IL (6’4” and 211lbs) @casey23morrison
The first few reps I saw Morrison run, his quarterback severely under threw him. I then told him a few guys to matchup with and this was the result.
Another pretty ball from @PieperAidan but this time it’s @casey23morrison on the receiving end pic.twitter.com/ZzGZKoJ8JT

Morrison possess great size, but will need to add on some weight to be a bigger factor run-blocking. As a receiver, he’s got soft hands, runs good routes creating separation and uses his large frame to his advantage. High upside here.
2022 Tight end Owen Gish, Blue Springs South HS, MO (6’5” and 236lbs) @gishowen
Gish has the size you are looking for in a tight end. Long, athletic, smooth route runner and plenty of weight behind him.

He consistently beat his man in 1v1s, mostly due to the great routes. Lots of upside from the huge tight end.
2022 Tight end Finn Cohan, New Trier, IL (6’5” and 230lbs) @finn_cohan
Another huge tight end in attendance was Cohan, who looked lean at his weight. Cohan could add 15-20 more pounds and still look smooth as a pass catcher. He has a very high upside and could potentially end up on the other side of the ball. Cohan has the qualities of a big time tight end.
2022 Tight end Henry Boyer Henry Boyer 6'7" | 250 lbs | TE Brother Rice | 2022 State IL , Brother Rice, IL (6’7” and 240lbs) @henryboyer17
One of the taller prospects on hand, Boyer is such an intriguing prospect. He is wide enough to carry more weight and not lose any of his athleticism. Boyer could grow out of the position and end up as an offensive tackle. If he picks ups that position quickly, Boyer could be a bookend tackle when it’s all said an done. Another young player who has tons of upside.
2022 Wide receiver Jacob Bostick, Palatine, IL (6’2” and 165lbs) @JacobBostick5
Long, lanky and athletic, Bostick was one of the best wide receiver in attendance. He consistently caught the ball away from his body, showing very strong hands.
A great battle between @LlewellynBryce and @JacobBostick5 both showed very high upside pic.twitter.com/R6a81dD50I

A better ball and Bostick surely makes that catch, the matchup against Bryce Llewellyn was one I asked them to have. Bostick does need to add some weight to his frame, but aside from that, he’s got all the tools to be an elite receiver.
2023 Wide receiver Malik Elzy Malik Elzy 6'3" | 195 lbs | WR Simeon | 2023 State IL , Simeon, IL (6’2” and 195lbs) @elzy_malik
If you told me he was a class of 2021 prospect, I would believe you. Elzy physically looks like he should be arriving on a collegiate campus in the fall. He uses his strength to over power smaller defenders, has great hands and runs very good routes. For a player his age, he is extremely polished. Already getting plenty of D1 interest, that won’t stop as he continues to improve.
2023 Wide receiver Justin Taylor, Nazareth, IL (6’ and 178lbs) @__justintaylor
A student of the game, I spoke with him briefly and he broke down his quarterback Aidan Pieper Aidan Pieper 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Nazareth Academy | 2022 State IL for me. Taylor has a fantastic frame for a young player, he should get a bit taller and gain good weight. Already, he looks like a guy who could contribute to a collegiate program. Taylor has a very high ceiling.
2022 Wide receiver Luke Jones Luke Jones 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Deerfield | 2022 State IL , Deerfield, IL (5’11 and 164lbs) @lukej237
At this point Luke might as well change the numbers behind his twitter handle to 247 because it seemed like he was open all day. A technician with his routes, he consistently created space so he was open and then showed great hands when the ball got to him. Jones was a matchup nightmare for corners in attendance.
2022 Wide receiver Malik Armstrong, Minooka, IL (6’2” and 160lbs) @_Marmstrong14
I have seen plenty of Armstrong over the last few months, each time he continues to impress. His lanky frame gives him the ability to take balls away from defenders when they’re under-thrown, and to reach balls that seem out of his catch radius. I still think Armstrong could use about 15 extra pounds to his frame, and once he gets there, he will be one of the toughest cover in the state.
2024 Wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan, Christian Brothers College, MO (6’1” and 185lbs) @hoodiejay24
A frame like this on a freshman immediately caught my attention, then you have to have skills along with it and McClellan does. It is a long way until he arrives on a college campus, but he will just keep getting better until he does. McClellan will surely be a player to watch progress over the next few years.
2023 Wide receiver Devian Montgomery, East St. Louis, IL (6’2” and 165lbs)
Like Armstrong, the length is certainly there for Montgomery, but the addition of size will be needed when they arrive at the next level. He has plenty of time to add good weight to his frame while continuing develop in other areas. I swear they grow high level players on trees down at ESL.
2022 Wide receiver Kamau Ransom, Evanston, IL (6’2” and 185lbs) @KamauRansom
A big player who does what all great wide receiver do, Ransom high points the ball using his size and hand strength to do so. Not only that, Ransom runs clean, crisp routes that give him separation from defenders. He has a lot of upside and will be one to watch once a season starts in Illinois.
