Keegan Glover Keegan Glover 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Benton | 2022 State IL , Benton HS, 2023, QB, 6’0 165, @GloverKeegan
Keegan is a machine point-blank. He has practically had a season the entire time we haven’t with the events he makes it to. Shout-out to Mr. Daniel Glover for putting in the miles with Keegan! as for Monday, I could see improved timing when throwing the ball; it was out instantly, accurately, and with a dominant strike. If southern Illinois stays in phase 4, we will see the show he puts on in the spring!
Robert “Pops” Battle, East St. Louis HS, 2024 QB, 5’10 170 @iiampops
This freshman was poised all-day. Worked hard in every drill and what I like was he didn’t have the receivers going deep every time; he showed me he could make the throws that happen throughout a game. Great touch on the ball with incredible accuracy. The arm strength and footwork are there and will be developed further over the next three years. One to watch!
Chase Mackey, Normal Community, 2022, QB, 6’3 200 @Chase_mackey5
I like what I saw from him for his size; he is a strong-armed hurler, with the right touch, and has a tight spiral. He stood out as another QB who didn’t sling it downfield every rep. He looked good working digs, and slants showed off his arm nicely. Normal Community HS plays in a tough conference, and he will have competitive contests weekly; he certainly has the size and skill set.
Ryan Boyd, East. St. Louis HS, 2023, WR, @iam_ryanboyd
Ryan was the most explosive receiver at the showcase. His ability to high point the ball is outstanding, and his hands can make tough catches. He put the entire route tree on display; no defensive back gave him trouble. As they say in the East St. Louis locker room, all gas and no brakes, you will get the smoke; he indeed translated it.
Fischer Davis, Mt. Vernon Township HS, 2023, WR, 5’10 140, @FischerJDavis1
Quite a fantastic day for the speedster few could keep him on the line with his separation. His breaks on routes were quick, which gave him the detachment on the 2nd level. Fischer also runs track, serves as a high jumper and apart of the sprint team, which is always a plus for staying healthy.
Lamarr Box, East St. Louis HS, 2022,DB,6’1 180, @LamarrBox
Lamarr is a dynamic long-armed DB who reads and reacts quickly. The closing speed when the receiver did make a break on the route was superb. Rarely was he beat off the line with his solid footwork and tracked the ball with absolute efficiency. This upcoming season is crucial to his recruiting campaign in which the Flyers will be competing at the highest level.
Omarion Gooden Omarion Gooden 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Cahokia | 2023 State IL , Cahokia, 2023,DB, 6’1 170, @OGOODEN3
Omarion demonstrated excellent poise on Monday with disciplined footwork, reliable closing speed on the 2nd level, and active hand usage. He did a great job tracking the ball on deep routes and seems to rely on his instincts, leading to fewer holds on the wide receivers and more defensive football.
Jalen Byrd Jalen Byrd 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB East St. Louis | 2022 State IL , East St. Louis, 2022, DB, 6’2 220,@JalenByrd1
Physical, Physical, Physical this is the word I will rise describing Jalen. Strong at the point of contact, his speed is surprising at his size when closing on WR’s mostly when they went deep. Most likely, an outside linebacker or box safety for the flyers and on the next level.
