These prospects are all uncommitted, unsigned and waiting to collect their first offer as the second and final signing day looms near for the class of 2021. With the 2020 football season still in question within the state of California, these prospects are patiently waiting to see what colleges pull the trigger on offering them and all hold college level potential.
ATH Sai Vardawale 5’11” 165 Ibs., Rancho Cotate HS
One of the most under-rated and talented 2023 prospects in Northern California, the Rancho Cotate High School product is coming off a great Freshman year and has huge upside potential on the third level of the defense. Playing both running back and cornerback, he projects as a corner at the next level and has terrific overall athletic ability and natural instincts, especially for his age. On tape, he has great length, long arms, is instinctual and breaks well to ball carriers while understanding where he is on the field and can cover ground well. Possessing natural ball skills and long speed with big play ability, he will be one of the top players in the region by the time it’s all said and done and should be a multi-offer kid.
DB Sabastian Pacheco 6’1″ 190 Ibs., Maria Carrillo High School
The 2021 prospect is a rangy and downhill safety that covers ground in a hurry and is not afraid to drop down into the box and make plays inside the tackles. On tape, Pacheco flashes natural instincts and has a nose for the ball while taking good angles to ball carriers both in space and in the box. He also displays good closing speed and physicality while shedding blocks/taking on bigger blockers and brings nice thump upon contact. Fluid in space with a natural backpedal and can break well to ball carriers through traffic, Pacheco should start to see some D-II and D-III interest as he enters his Senior season.
LB Kekoa Garrido 6’2″ 215 Ibs., Marin Catholic HS
Playing for one of the top teams in the region, Garrido is a very versatile defender that can play at any linebacker position and is effective as an edge defender. A well put together prospect with a strong build and lower body strength, he shows good cover ability due to natural hip fluidity and lateral movement skills while possessing strong overall field awareness and ball skills. Also able to rush the passer, he shows good first step explosion and quick use of hands at the point of attack with impressive closing speed while taking good angles to ball carriers and bringing a good thump at the point of attack. A tough and physical prospect, he currently holds offers from College of Idaho and should start to see some FCS interest pick up as he enters into his hopefully Senior season.
WR Jackson Dunkle 6’0″ 180 Ibs., El Molino HS
The 2019 All-League selection is coming off a good Junior season and currently holds one offer from the University of Puget Sound. On tape, Dunkle is a balanced athlete that can stretch the field while flashing terrific ball skills/high point ability and keeping good body control in traffic while winning on contested 50/50 balls. Having good size at the position, especially for the DIII level, Dunkle can make defenders miss in open space with plus lateral movement ability/short area quickness and block on the perimeter. Still a developing player with a high floor, The El Molino High School product should continue to draw in more D-III interest as we enter into the Spring.
