I scoured tape from across the state of Oklahoma and viewed prospects at every position. There are some kids on this list already with multiple Power-Five offers, and some still waiting on their very first offer. Without further ado, here are some of the top 2023 prospects in the state of Oklahoma.
Compton has a violent punch with a mean streak to go with it. He barrels through linebackers and will use both speed & power to finish them. He will drive defensive linemen off the ball to linebacker depth to create holes for his back. He can easily get out and pull for you inside the tackle box or out on the perimeter. He has a ton of raw power in both his upper body and anchor that he uses to bully pass rushers. No offers just yet.
A tight end who runs routes more like a wide receiver. Luke showed excellent speed on tape and is tough to bring down after the catch. Hasz was a major threat in the redzone and consistently won contested matchups against defensive backs. He is a skilled route runner and can split out at x receiver and look like a natural. As a blocker, he plays with great knee bend and will do everything he can to finish off blocks. He’s a future four-star in my eyes.
A strong safety prospect with impressive closing speed and takes great angles to the football. Thomas is a master of diagnosing the run and has tight breaks he uses to quickly attack ball carriers. Thomas can also contribute on special teams, something that could be key for him to getting on the field early as a freshman at the next level. His toughness and physicality are his number one trait in my eyes. This is a young man whose not afraid to roll up in the box and make plays between the tackles.
A bigger wide receiver prospect with a great build for only a sophomore. Morgan relishes 1 on 1 situations and will dominate on the fade ball. He understands coverages and where to tempo down in them. He shows a different gear after the catch and can run away from defensive backs. He easily defeats press coverage and will use his strength to go up and attack the football. I’m shocked that at this point, he only has one FCS offer. This is a major talent that people need to know about.
Foreman has potential at defensive line, tight end, and even potentially offensive tackle. He moves extremely well for a man that is 250 pounds and can easily get to the second level and sustain blocks. As a pass rusher, he’s extremely aggressive and will throw offensive linemen off of him when engaged. His first step looks like that of a senior prospect, and he will dominate at the point of attack. Foreman was a nightmare on the lower levels and has a very bright future ahead of him.
ATH: Rickey Hunt, 6’, 175, Millwood
A nifty runner with great patience and spectacular vision. Hunt has the strength to run through arm tackles and isn’t afraid to cut back across the field. He shows an overpowering stiff arm that can bury defenders and can help him get out of tough situations. Hunt lined up at quarterback all of his sophomore year but is a true running back prospect through and through. He shows elite body control that makes him a no brainer Division one recruit.
A massive prospect with significant pop behind his punch. Ashford lined up at right tackle for Santa Fe and overwhelmed defensive ends with pure size and strength. He does a good job of rolling his hips once engaged and constantly finished blocks. On tape, he washed down defenders, keying up a massive hole for his backs. I think he’s a guard at the next level and could be scary to see in pull schemes. He holds one offer from Memphis, but I think Power-Five schools will be calling soon.
Erik’s high school coach sent me his tape in December, and I’m glad he did because this young man is a Division one type prospect, no doubt about it. As a sophomore, Erik gashed defenses totaling 1,966 yards and 33 TD’s at running back. Erik is a nightmare to bring down and will use a spin move, stiff arm, or cutback to evade tackles. He has the speed to get to the perimeter and can outrun angles. Based on his production and what he’s proven on tape, I fully expect to see Erik reel in a good amount of offers this spring.
Colleges love tall corners with long arms, and that’s exactly what you’ll get with Mr. Johnson. Johnson is smooth out of a shuffle and has great recovery speed on tape. He’s a strong tackler in space and will speed his feet on contact. He’s an outstanding basketball player and uses that very same leaping ability to attack the football at its highest point. He’s got close to ten Power-Five offers already, and I think more will be coming in the near future.
