DE/OLB: Zack Isaac, 6’3″, 235, North Point, 2022, JR
Zack Isaac has been a staple of the North Point varsity defensive line for two years. While boasting a large frame Zack is surprisingly agile and slippery. As you watch the film it stands out that Zack has honed his ability to shed blocks in the run game using a variety of hand fighting techniques. As a pass rusher, his film indicates that his coaches have given him a great base to build off. Zack routinely shows that his favorite option to get to the quarterback in pass-rush situations is the chop-dip-rip + outside speed rush combination, which is without a doubt a fundamental building block of a successful pass rusher. If Zack can build on the foundation, he has laid for himself during his time at North Point he should have an excellent junior and senior campaign as a standout defender and collegiate prospect.
RB: Michael Craig Michael Craig 5'8" | 170 lbs | RB North Point | 2022 MD , 5’8″, 180, North Point, 2022, JR
After watching Michael’s film the first thing I have to mention is his physicality. Michael’s film shows a downhill runner who attacks his landmarks inside or outside the tackles. Michael is a back that often demonstrates the ability to run through the arm tackles of box defenders and lower his shoulder through direct contact to give the body blows and gain the extra inches that tend to prove valuable as the game goes on. Michael also shows the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield as North Point routinely uses him on swing and wheel routes. Michael is a powerful back with upside; if he can continue to improve his speed and explosiveness he will not only be a standout in the SMAC but also a high-level collegiate prospect.
WR: Christian Homer, 5’7″, 165, North Point, 2022, JR
As an offensive weapon, Christian’s best attribute is his speed. Christian has demonstrated the ability to use his speed to take short routes such as slants, wide receiver screens, and even jet sweeps and make them explosives with his run-after-the-catch ability. Christian is also the primary return man on the team. As a returner, he can be seen on film using his speed and shiftiness to routinely set his offense up with excellent field position if not scoring himself when the defenders give him space. Lastly, as you watch Christian on film it becomes almost obvious that he takes pride in dominating the defender downfield as a blocker, which is a crucial component to creating explosive plays in the run game. As Christian continues to grow and show off his speed on tape, he will become harder and harder for colleges to ignore.
MLB: Jayden Bonny, 6’2″ 210, North Point, 2022, JR
When watching the film the first thing that stands out to me is Jayden’s slipperiness in the run game. Jayden has demonstrated the ability to make oncoming blockers miss with fast and twitchy swims and side steps while also staying under control enough to make a play on the ball carrier. In blitzing schemes, Jayden pairs his speed with the previously mentioned twitchiness to get past offensive linemen and make plays behind the line of scrimmage. As a centerpiece of North Points defense, I believe Jayden has the size and tools to be a standout linebacker in the SMAC and a potential collegiate prospect.
