Whether they play in Atlanta, Macon, Valdosta, Or Savannah, there are talented QBs across the peach state. Everyone knows about the five-stars, but there are plenty others who deserve recognition after a big 2020 season.
Thomas Castellanos Thomas Castellanos 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Ware County | 2022 State GA :
One of the top dual-threat QBs in the country, the Waycross native in South Georgia had a giant junior season for Ware County (GA) where he lead the Gators to a 10-2 record and a deep run into the playoffs. The dynamic playmaker gave defenses nightmares all year, passing for 2,881 yards and 23 TDs while also rushing for 939 and 24 more TDs. He was electric as a runner and made plays that you just don’t see very often. He’s so tough to coral when he takes off and has the arm talent to play at a Power 5 school. His arm is getting stronger by the day and this spring he could see some big offers start to come his way.
Zach Holtzclaw:
In North Georgia, an under the radar prospect to know is Dawson County’s rising senior. The 2022 QB has one of the best years of any QB north of Atlanta where he threw for over 2,500 yards and 25 TDs. The led Dawson County to a 4-2 region record last year with big wins over Northview, Lumpkin County, and White County. Holtclaw also rushed for five touchdowns on the season. With Holtzclaw being a senior this year, many expect Dawson County to have one of their best teams in recent memory.
Jermaine Brewton:
Down in South Georgia is where you’ll find one of the top seniors in the region from this past year. Brewton will be a four-year starter for Pierce County down in Blackshear and led the Bears to an outstanding 13-1 record and a state championship win over Oconee County. Brewton led the Bears to their first state title in school history behind his 1,838 yards and 25 TDs. Brewton aslo showed the ability to take off with his legs as he rushed for 679 yards and 15 TDs. He’s a dynamic playmaker who knows the offense perfectly and does a great job of taking care of the ball. He has some smaller offers currently but could see more his ways this offseason.
