Many of the Southern AZ kids were extremely affected by the COVID season, as most schools were very limited on games, which obviously leads to limited film. However, these guys made the most out of every opportunity they got, and are starting to spark up. Take a look at 5 Southern Arizona players who are seeing their recruitment rise up:
Isaiah Roebuck, 6’0″ 185lbs, DB/WR, Marana HS
Roebuck has been putting on a show recently at 7on7 games and tournaments. As a WR, he possesses athletic, reliable hands and good body control to adjust his body to make difficult catches. He has very good top end speed with solid lateral mobility and change of direction. As a DB, he’s shown excellent range and instincts and covers ground quick. He closes well as a tackler aiding in run support. He’s a lethal punt returner as well and has big play ability anywhere he lines up. Roebuck has most recently been offered a PWO by the University of Arizona, and has recently racked up numerous offers from Ottawa University (AZ), Hastings College, and Jamestown.
Parker Pelletier Parker Pelletier 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Salpointe Catholic | 2021 State AZ , 5’11″ 185lbs, DB, Salpointe Catholic HS
Pelletier shows loose hips with solid recovery speed, and plays the ball well in the back end. He shows a nice little burst out of his backpedal to break on the ball and does a good job punching through the hands of receivers to force PBU’s. He’s shown the ability to man up against any prototype of receiver or sit in zone coverage as he has a good understanding of responsibilities. He’s an effective tackler in run support and will make a stud DB at the next level. He recently received his first D1 opportunity on a PWO from Wagner University, and has recently racked up a handful of offers from Chadron State, Western New Mexico, and Doane University all within the last 3 weeks.
Peyton Pelletier Peyton Pelletier 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Ironwood Ridge | 2021 State AZ , 6’1″ 195lbs, ATH, Ironwood Ridge HS
Peyton, twin brother of Parker Pelletier Parker Pelletier 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Salpointe Catholic | 2021 State AZ , is an excellent all around athlete and can make an impact anywhere he lines up. This past season, Pelletier lined up at QB, WR, and DB for Ironwood Ridge. At QB, he identifies coverages well and shows smooth footwork with a fluid transition to throw. He caught a few passes as a WR and was able to pick up solid chunks of yards after the catch. As a DB, he shows solid range and breaks on the ball well. It’ll be interesting to see what position he’ll play at the next level. Like his brother, he also recently received a D1 opportunity from Wagner University, and he recently added other offers from Western New Mexico and Sacred Heart University.
Jonah Leon, 5’11” 175lbs, WR/DB, Yuma Catholic HS
Leon displays solid body control with soft hands, to adjust and haul in difficult catches. He’s had a couple of impressive catches with defenders all over him on film, showing excellent coordination. He can be shifty in open space or physical when he needs to be. Very effective blocker in the run game and did a good job playing til the whistle. As a DB, he plays smart and reads the QB well. Leon has most recently been offered by Salt River (juco), Southwest Baptist, Lewis and Clark College, University of Jamestown, and Ottawa University (AZ).
Dominic Murrieta, 5’11” 165lbs, WR/DB, Sunnyside HS
Murrieta has solid top end speed with big play ability. He’s an explosive route runner with a good burst out of his stick at the top of routes to generate solid separation. As a DB, he shows fluid hips and can turn and run with receivers. Murrieta has shown good ball skills in the back end with solid range. Although he is a two-way standout, I really like Murrieta as a WR. He has nice athleticism all around and can be a big play threat receiver at the D3-NAIA levels. He was most recently offered by Hamline University, Ottawa University, Dakota State University, and picked up offers from Defiance College and Nebraska Wesleyan back in December.
