Davis says he plans to sign on February 3, the first day of the late signing period.
He verbally committed to LSU on January 1 of 2020, but reopened his recruitment on December 21.
The final four schools Davis is considering are LSU, Ohio State, Oregon and USC.
In an interview with Greg Biggins of 247Sports, Davis went into detail about his interest in each school.
LSU is still in the running for Davis, but he withdrew his commitment because he wants to see who the program hires as its new defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Davis was communicating a lot with coach Bo Pelini, who is no longer with the program.
"The main coach I’ve been talking with at LSU is Kelvin Sheppard. He’s a cool guy and someone I’ve been talking with this whole time," Davis said. "The last time I talked with Coach O (Orgeron) was probably two weeks ago but I know he’s been super busy trying to put together a great staff so I’m just waiting to

Ohio State is the only school of the four that Davis hasn’t visited. Their recent win over Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinals impressed Davis, particularly the play of Justin Hilliard, who he says has a similar style of play to his own.
"Ohio State is a great program. When you look at what they’re doing now and how well they’re recruiting, it’s almost a sure thing if you go there, you’re going to make it to the playoffs and have a great shot to get drafted," Davis said. "They win and develop, that’s who they are as a program. Their class this year is crazy and the ’22 class is already strong."
The coaching staff at Oregon has been working hard to recruit Davis. A big reason Oregon is a contender to land Davis is that there are currently six players from Mater Dei on the Oregon roster: Sean Dollars, Race Mahlum, Mase Funa, Andrew Faoliu, Keyon Ware-Hudson and Austin Faoliu. USC is who many recruiting analysts expect to be the favorite to land Davis. His family, much like others in southern California, are fans of USC. The program has one of the top 10 recruiting classes in the nation and the signings of

"If I chose SC, my family would be able to come to all my games and that is a factor in my decision," Davis said. "USC is a great academic school too and my family feels I can go in and play early, develop really well and then have a shot to play in the League (NFL). That’s definitely the goal for me so I’m just going to play this out and we’ll see what happens.”
Davis hopes to play with his Mater Dei teammates in the spring, if there is a season and plans on enrolling in college in the fall. He is the No. 4 recruit in the state according to Prep Redzone and is one of only three unsigned players in the nation’s top 50 prospects according to 247Sports.
