Muskegon Mona Shores (Division 2), Grand Rapids Catholic Central (Division 5), and Montague (Division 6) punched their tickets to the state championships, while Rockford (Division 1) and Muskegon (Division 2) saw their seasons come to a close in the semis. Below are the top performers from this past weekend from West Michigan.
Ben Tadych, Rockford
Ben led the Rams with 12 tackles in Rockford’s 27-3 loss to Davison. Davison will face West Bloomfield in the Division 1 state championship.
Luke McClean, Rockford
Luke racked up double-digit tackles for the Rams with 10 in Rockford’s loss.
Brady Rose Brady Rose 5'8" | 170 lbs | WR Mona Shores | 2021 State MI , Mona Shores
Brady continued to show why he’s the Player of the Year in the state with an all-time performance in Muskegon Mona Shores’ comeback win over Traverse City Central. The senior ran for 87 yards and three touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass. On defense, Brady returned one interception for a touchdown and had another interception that was nearly returned for a touchdown, and he had a co-team-high 8 tackles. Mona Shores will face Warren De La Salle in the Division 2 state championship.
Khyree Hamel Khyree Hamel 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB Mona Shores | 2021 MI , Mona Shores
Kyhree led the Sailors defense with 8 tackles in Mona Shores’ win over Traverse City Central.
Jeff Lenartowicz, Mona Shores
Jeff added seven tackles for the Sailors.
Pierre Johnson, Muskegon
Pierre Johnson co-led Muskegon with 8 tackles in the Big Reds’ 14-0 loss to DeWitt in a Division 3 semifinal.
Jonathan Adams, Muskegon
Jonathan also had eight tackles for the Big Reds.
Meshaune Crowley, Muskegon
Meshaune joined Johnson and Adams with a team-high eight tackles.
Damari Foster, Muskegon
Damari played lights out against DeWitt, making an incredible interception in the endzone over a Panther receiver, and breaking up three additional passes in Muskegon’s loss.
Nick Hollern Nick Hollern 5'8" | 190 lbs | RB Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2021 MI , Grand Rapids Catholic Central
Nick had his way with Freeland’s defense, rushing 10 times for 150 yards and four touchdowns in Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s 49-14 win. The Cougars will face Frankenmuth in the Division 5 state championship.
Jack Klafeta, Grand Rapids Catholic Central
Jeff co-led the Cougar defense with 11 tackles in Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s win.
Nolan Ziegler Nolan Ziegler 6'4" | 205 lbs | DB Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2022 State MI , Grand Rapids Catholic Central
The Notre Dame commit also had 11 tackles in the Cougar’s semifinal win.
Jace Williams Jace Williams 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2021 State MI , Grand Rapids Catholic Central
Jace caught two touchdowns in GRCC’s win. The Miami of Ohio commit now has 49 career touchdown receptions, an MHSAA record.
Drew Collins Drew Collins 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Montague | 2021 State MI , Montague
Collins completed 12 of 16 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns in Montague’s 49-14 win over Grayling. Montague will face Clinton in the Division 6 state championship.
Owen Peterson, Montague
Owen intercepted two passes on defense and caught a touchdown pass on offense for the Wildcats.
Dylan Everett Dylan Everett 5'8" | 160 lbs | RB Montague | 2022 MI , Montague
Dylan ran for 100 yards and three touchdowns in Montague’s win.
