Kobey Stephens Kobey Stephens 6'0" | ATH Wewoka | 2021 State OK – Wewoka (#77 Overall)
First we have one of the biggest 2-way stars in Wewoka’s Kobey Stephens Kobey Stephens 6'0" | ATH Wewoka | 2021 State OK . Stephens played primarily at QB and DB for Wewoka in 2018, 2019, and 2020. and also returned a handful of kicks as well. He was more of an athlete than true QB in 2019 but still managed to produce for over 3000 total yards with 45 total touchdowns and 5 interceptions on defense. In 2020, Stephens responded by having another 3000 yards of total offense with 50 TDs, 8 Interceptions on defense, and fewer interceptions thrown on offense. Kobey is a true dual-threat athlete who is signed to UCO where it looks like he will play at defensive back full time.
Luke McEndoo Luke McEndoo 6'2" | ATH Stillwater | 2021 State OK – Stillwater (#56 Overall)
Our next player is another 2-way guy but in a much different way than Kobey Stephens Kobey Stephens 6'0" | ATH Wewoka | 2021 State OK . Luke played a variety of positions for Stillwater over the last few years including at FB, TE, DE, and even a little bit of LB. His best spot for the next level is yet to be determined but one thing is for sure, Luke is a football player through and through. He was excellent at each position the Pioneers placed him at and will have a chance to play for Oklahoma State either on defense along the D-Line or on offense as one of their FB/TE hybrids that they call “Cowboy Backs”.
Grant Lohr Grant Lohr 6'0" | ATH Jenks | 2021 State OK – Jenks (#42 Overall)
Coming into the season one of the biggest questions for the Jenks team was at running back since they did not have a returning player with much production at the position. Grant Lohr Grant Lohr 6'0" | ATH Jenks | 2021 State OK stepped in and not only answered that question quickly, but he ended up having one of the best seasons of any back in 6A-1. Lohr finished with over 1300 rushing yards and 22 rushing TDs on 6.8 yards per carry. The Senior was a great back with good speed, vision, and excellent contact balance to run through weak tacklers. Lohr also shined on Jenks’ defense as a safety which is where he might have more success at the next level for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Angelo Rankin Jr. Angelo Rankin Jr. 5'10" | ATH Edmond Santa Fe | 2021 State OK – Edmond Santa Fe (#36 Overall)
Our next athlete has been one of the most dynamic playmakers from all over the field for the last few years along with the next player on this list. It may not have shown at all times in the stat sheet in 2020 with stars like Talyn Shettron Talyn Shettron 6'3" | WR Edmond Santa Fe | 2022 State OK , Scott Pfieffer Scott Pfieffer 6'3" | QB Edmond Santa Fe | 2022 State OK , and Ethane Hyche Ethane Hyche 6'0" | RB Edmond Santa Fe | 2021 State OK often stealing the spotlight, but Angelo Rankin Jr was a threat to make a game-changing play anytime he touched the ball, from any position, WR, DB, RB, or in the return game on punts and kicks. There were so many games this season where he would only get one or two touches but you’d still come away amazed because both of those touches would go for big plays if not TDs. He may be viewed as undersized by some, but not to the Richmond Spiders who landed Angelo Rankin Jr in the recruiting process where he is sure to shine.
Dorian Plumley Dorian Plumley 6'1" | ATH El Reno | 2021 State OK – El Reno (#27 Overall)
Our last athlete is one who had quite an interesting senior season. After coming in with a lot of hype and with big expectations, El Reno just escaped with a victory in OT in their season opener but would lose Plumley to injury. The Indians would then lose their next two games before getting Plumley back. After his return, the Indians went undefeated the rest of the regular season and won a district title for the first time since 2009 but were disqualified from the playoffs due to public health protocols related to Covid. After many appeals, El Reno was let back into the playoffs where they would go on to win their first playoff game in school history since 2009. Most, if not all of El Reno’s offensive success this season revolved around Plumley as he often had that “it” factor, to push the Indians over the hump in big games. While his future may not be at the QB position, he certainly has a future playing in big games as he has signed with the University of Oklahoma after de-committing from UCO.
