From Sumter to the west side of Lexington County, the central pocket of the state produces battle-tested players who are cutting their teeth just about every game. In six parts, we broke down all of them and what we loved about their games.
This is a list you don’t want to miss.
Zack Chalmers Zack Chalmers 6'4" | 200 lbs | WR Newberry | 2022 State SCSchool: Newberry
Position: Wide receiver
Analysis: Only one other receiver in this ultra-talented class has the size Chalmers does. And with a deer-like running ability to go along with his 6-foot-4 frame, Chalmers is the real deal.
Antonio Williams Antonio Williams 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Dutch Fork | 2022 State SCSchool: Dutch Fork
Position: Wide receiver
Analysis: While not the biggest receiver in the class, Williams holds his own against the best when it comes to routes, speed, timing and open-field awareness and college offers.
CJ Stokes CJ Stokes 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Hammond School | 2022 State SCSchool: Hammond School
Position: Running back
Analysis: Stokes’ ACC and SEC offer list continues to grow, and it’s clear that those colleges believe he’s not just a match-up nightmare at the SCISA level.
Drew Bobo Drew Bobo 6'5" | 280 lbs | OL Hammond School | 2022 GASchool: Hammond School
Position: Offensive line
Analysis: Bobo’s next few months could be a bit hectic, but regardless of any outside forces, the 6-foot-5, 280-pound tackle is going to be a huge get for a Power Five program.
Zavier Short Zavier Short 6'2" | 200 lbs | WR Chapin | 2022 State SCSchool: Chapin
Position: Wide receiver
Analysis: At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds and with ability to break tackles, high point receptions and stretch the field, Short is all sorts of the flexible receiver colleges want in a recruit.
