With a little under one-third of our Class of 2022 rankings players coming from the Upstate, it is by far the most represented zone in all of South Carolina.
This tightly packed crop of talent is vast. Needless to say, we’re going to need a few entries to get to them all.
Over the course of a week, we will break down every single one of the players from this ultra-rich zone, one we expect top-flight production from next fall.
Robby HarrisonRobbyHarrison6'3" | DLEmerald | 2022StateSC
School: Emerald
Position: Defensive line
Analysis: A top-three defensive lineman in the state, Harrison has the size (6-foot-3, 270 pounds), power and speed to already warrant Power 5 offers.
Randy “Deuce” Caldwell
School: Mauldin
Position: Defensive back
Analysis: The 6-foot, 185-pound safety is a bruising tackler who can cover a lot of space sideline to side. Much of that is because of the same vision helps him in wildcat formations on offense.
Gabriel “Gabe” Smith
School: Daniel
Position: Defensive back
Analysis: The lanky corner and strong safety piled up most of his stats in 2020 while opposing offenses were doing everything in their power not to throw his direction.

School: Greenville
Position: Running back
Analysis: Holland was able to get his feet wet last season behind a senior starter, but he’ll be getting a lot more touches in 2021 and all signs point to him making the most of them.
Hudson LeeHudsonLee6'5" | DLDorman | 2022StateSC
School: Dorman
Position: Defensive line
Analysis: Lee saw a dramatic developmental rise in 2020, and for a 6-foot-5 edge rusher who can be in the backfield in two or three strides, he’s only going to keep getting better.
Justin Jackson
JustinJackson6'6" | OLGreenville | 2022StateSC
School: Greenville
Position: Offensive line
Analysis: As far as size goes, offensive linemen don’t come any bigger than Jackson, at least not in this class and this state. By the end of his junior year, he was 6-foot-6 and 340 pounds.
