We added over 100 players to the most recent update highlighting players that popped during the 2020 season and have seen their recruiting on the rise. Here’s an in-depth look at the new ATH’s to the rankings.
Mario Martinez Mario Martinez 6'1" | 175 lbs | ATH Yuma Catholic | 2022 State AZ , WR/DB, Yuma Catholic
Great versatility and top end speed. On offense he is a lethal vertical threat using his speed to stretch the defense and blow by opposing DB’s. He has a great ability to track/adjust to the deep ball in the air and then shows the body control to make highlight reel catches. On defense, he plays well with his eyes quickly diagnosing plays and reacting. Had a monster statistical season on his way to second team all-state. Has the talent to climb recruiting boards and is in a great scheme to put up big numbers but would like to see him continue to develop his route running.
Jake Price Jake Price 6'5" | 240 lbs | ATH Peoria | 2022 State AZ , DE/TE, Peoria
A wide skillset and ideal length/frame at 6’4” 230 lbs. makes him capable of playing multiple positions at the college level depending on his development. He’s a natural football player that is physical and aggressive on both sides of the ball. A good athlete with functional straight line speed and lateral agility. His natural ability and size warrants college level attention but would like to see him become more fluid in the hips and drop his pad level to improve his leverage at the POA.
Devin Bowling Devin Bowling 5'9" | 170 lbs | ATH Benson | 2022 State AZ , RB/LB, Benson
Bowling is a quick and shifty athlete with explosive playmaking potential. He’s a scat back that shows good acceleration hitting top speed within a few strides. He shows a good ability to change directions and make defenders miss in the open field using a quick lateral jump cut. Possesses plus vision and balance to see and hit the cut back lane without hesitation. Would like to see him continue to add weight and strength to his frame while maintaining that quick twitch and explosiveness. Will be one to watch entering his senior year.
Wyatt Ogle Wyatt Ogle 5'7" | 145 lbs | ATH Santa Cruz Valley | 2022 State AZ , DB/QB, Santa Cruz Valley
A strong two-way athlete that was a first team all-conference DB in addition to playing QB for the state champion Santa Cruz Valley team. Plays the center field safety spot well with a great ability to diagnose plays and read the QB’s eyes. Shows good ball skills to track and adjust to the ball in the air, recorded 6 INT’s and 7 PBU’s on the year. He could show improvement by tightening up his footwork and technique, has a tendency for wasted movement and getting too high out his stance. He’s an impact player on both sides of the ball that can lead the Dust Devils to another deep playoff run as a senior.
Talon Haynie Talon Haynie 5'8" | 165 lbs | ATH St. David | 2022 State AZ , RB/LB, St. David
A strong and naturally talented all-around football player. He’s a physical downhill ball carrier that runs well behind his pads with good leverage to break first contact and run through arm tackles. Despite his power back running style, he does show good athleticism and elusiveness in the open field. Strong player on the defensive side as well that has a great nose for the ball and flies around making plays sideline to sideline. Another guy that needs to continue to add weight and strength to his frame. One of the top players in 1A.
