Potential to play multiple positions on both sides of the ball is common with these players. Let’s take a look at a few athletes that we expect to see heat up recruiting wise in the near future.
Darrius Triplett Darrius Triplett 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Caledonia | 2022 State MS | Caledonia
Easy and natural, reactive athleticism is seen in Triplett, who is a true contributor on both sides of the football. Triplett is a home run threat as a wingback in a wish bone set on the offensive side and currently spends his defensive time at CB, although he projects more at safety. A rare seen mix of speed and physicality is present, with ability to run away from defenders. Good hands and good football IQ. Interesting prospect with D1 potential to watch moving forward. Seems best suited at safety although could have offensive potential moving forward.
Jonathan Wiltz Jonathan Wiltz 5'8" | 160 lbs | ATH Columbia | 2022 State MS | Columbia
Another two-way star, Wiltz is an extremely physical downhill runner on the offensive end and a sideline to sideline attacking linebacker. In Wiltz you see a shorter compact frame that is filled out nicely and matches well with his hard nosed style of play. This is a kid who craves contact and flat out hauls butt to make plays. Sure tackler with max effort on every snap. Type of kid that you want on your side when a game gets tight late. Wiltz probably best projects to the defensive side of the ball as an outside linebacker or hybrid safety. Lots of upside is present with Wiltz.
Cameron Knox Cameron Knox 5'11" | 180 lbs | ATH New Albany | 2022 State MS | New Albany
Correctly sized and built to play offensively as a WR or in secondary defensively. Nearly 500 yards of offense to go with 9 TDs, 39 tackles and 2 INT defensively as a JR. Knox is the type of kid that is wanted on the field every snap due to the value he brings in all three phases. Electric athletic intangibles with special burst and easy acceleration of speed. Changes directions smoothly. Good hands. Above average route runner with solid feet as a wideout. At his best with the football in his hands. Extremely undervalued in the state at this time. Currently has Group of 5 offers but potential is there to be a Power 5 WR. Expect a breakout SR season to be in the works here.
