Guys who can line up as a receiver and then turn around and play defensive back. Defenders to can return kicks. Receivers who can return punts. The state is led by five-star Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA , but there and plenty of others who have the chance to play at a Power 5 school this time next year.
Milon Jones – Marietta
The Blue Devils are a program who constantly turns out Power 5 talent, and they might have a diamond in the rough in rising senior, Milon Jones. The 6-foot-1 180-pounder does a little bit of everything for Marietta and proves to be one of the top overall athletes in the region last year. As a running back, Jones carried the ball 77 times for 290 yards and three touchdowns. He gave the Blue Devils a spark there and showed that he was able to make plays in the passing game as well. He caught 34 passes as a junior for 269 yards and two touchdowns. He was also a reliable defender for the Blue Devils, making 31 total passes and intercepting one pass. It wasn’t a great year overall for Marietta, but they’re looking to bounce back in a big way this fall and will rely heavily on Jones to make plays in every aspect of the game. He also an experience return man and has above-average speed for someone with his size and length. He’ll be an athlete to know in the metro-Atlanta area.
Marques Johnson – Liberty County
The small rural high school in Hinesville has produced some serious talent in the last few years, including former Georgia Bulldog safety Richard LeCounte. Now they have another impressive defensive back, and it’s one of the more experienced defensive backs in South Georgia. He may not be the biggest guy at 5-foot-9 165-pounds, but the soon-to-be four-year in the secondary has proved for years now that he knows how to cover the top receivers in the region. He’s a tough kid who knows the importance of hard work. What stands out the most is his game speed and how physical he is. Johnson plays bigger than his size and is expected to play both ways at RB and DB for the Panthers this fall. He’ll be a senior leader and has the potential to be an all-state selection as a senior.
Terian Williams (Johns Creek)
He may have plenty of Power 5 offers right now, but the Johns Creek athlete is still somewhat looked at as an “under the radar” prospect. The 6-foot-0 175-pounder is a true do-it-all athlete who is dangerous with the ball in his hands. He covers and moves well in the secondary as a defensive back, but he can also catch passes as a receiver and return both kicks and punts on special teams. He has a different gear than everyone else and is a threat to take it to the house any time he touches the ball. He’s an experienced player and has played against some top-notch competition in Georgia since he was a freshman. He’s always one of the top athletes on the field and will be able to play at a Power 5 school at the next level. Williams has had a big week on the recruiting trail, picking up recent offers from Michigan, Arizona, and South Carolina.
