Being a leader is tough, and it comes with the territory at the quarterback position. I often refer to the QB’s as commanders because it’s essentially their job when the ball is in play. These young commanders I had the pleasure of seeing run through drills in the offseason, and they impressed all who saw them. Here are a few 2023 Quarterbacks in NWO you need to keep on your watchlist this season.
Cameron Swiger – 2023
Anthony Wayne
Notes:
Swiger is one of the best rising QB’s in the state as he continues to improve his overall game. Cam has a good pocket presence to accompany his strong arm. Recently, Cam finished as one of the top lifters in his team’s off-season lifting challenge. Last season he took over the starting job and outperformed expectations. Swiger is a true leader, which is also one of his top qualities. He is very rarely frazzled or phased by distractions, which shows his poise and IQ during 1v1’s.
Kaden Holmes Kaden Holmes 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Fremont Ross | 2023 State OH – 2023
Fremont Ross
Notes:
Holmes has been one of the most talked-about names in the area when I speak to college coaches and scouts. Holmes is currently in basketball season but often makes his way to camp if he does not have a game. His quick release and arm strength set him apart from a lot of prospects, but it’s his footwork and quickness that will get you. Kaden can be an all-state QB next fall with the talent that surrounds him currently.
TJ Takats – 2023
Perrysburg
Notes:
Bowling Green State University baseball has already claimed this rising 2023 QB as he already committed to playing for them in a few years. BUT, we all know things can change; let me explain how. TJ stands at 6’3 and has a powerful throwing arm, with baseball scouts projecting him to be a big-time 2-way player. His athleticism is also up to par for his age, and as he gets stronger, he will really become a player that coaches will check for in the area. As TJ continues to develop his throwing motion as a QB, I believe he will see D1 offers in football before it’s all said and done.
