5 Class of 2024 Prospects To Watch
It should come as no surprise that every year, a young prospect is going to steal the show in Florida.
While other areas of the country rarely entertain the thought of using a freshman as a key player at the varsity level, it happens all the time in Florida.
Many coaches believe that if a younger prospect has the talent, it would be a waste to sit them – especially when they are needed to help programs build and win.
The Class of 2024, which is now the rising sophomore group, is loaded with players, who even in a pandemic, found a way to get some of that spotlight in their first season – and as they head toward their second varsity campaign, big things will be expected.
With Covid still very much in play across the country, it will be many of those youngsters who will be counted on in 2021 to give their respective teams a huge lift.
Today, we have five gifted 2024 players to check out:
Kamyren Baxter, DT/OG, 6-2, 255, Tallahassee St. John Paul II. This is someone to keep your eye on over the next three years. One of the freshman players from this past season who really put up some impressive numbers – like 20 tackles, sacks, pressures and tackles for loss. Has the opportunity as he learns, grows and matures to be a very special two-way performer for a program that has its share of gifted young performers.

Gage Isbell, OL/DL, 6-2, 255, Fleming Island. Here is another football talent that has a chance to be very special in the coming years – mainly because he is versatile and can help the team in many ways – from a defensive end or tight end position. He will also see as he grows and gets bigger, he could also be a fit on either side of the line as well. All this comes with an impressive 3.75 GPA in the classroom.

Alvin Johnson, RB, 5-10, 160, Venice. After a quality youth career, here is a gifted young man who has already found his role on one of the top teams in Florida. If you follow the Vikings at all, you already know that they know exactly what athletes are going to be difference makers – and this young man has already shown that he is someone to watch on the football field and in the classroom, where he holds down a 3.5 GPA.

Jackson “JT” Klein, DE, 6-4, 210, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons. For the defending 4A state champion Chiefs, the theme of 2021 will be about adding depth and getting some of the young players in the mix – and this talented football player could be the next difference maker for a program that is now regarded as one of the best in the state. In addition to becoming a solid defensive lineman, he also punts and holds down a 3.83GPA in the classroom.

Jaylen Wilcox, RB, Baker County. After watching his first year of varsity football, you have to be impressed at the way this gifted prospect approached his role with a team that did some impressive things in 2020. Not only does he break tackles at the line of scrimmage, but he has the vision and speed to make positive things happen. Like we said when first watching him play: “this is indeed someone special who will be a force for years to come – and if you watch him perform – there is no way to dispute that!
