Here are five backs from the Class of 2023 Class 4A Ranks who finished among the state leaders in rushing.
Jaytin Gumm, 6’0”, 175, McPherson – Gumm unofficially led all sophomore running backs in Class 4A in rushing in 2020. He rolled up 1,329 yards rushing and scored 14 total touchdowns for the Bullpups. He moves well and has good hands. Gumm is a threat in the passing game as well.
Wyatt Bahm, 5’11”, 160, Arkansas City – Bahm could be a break-out star in his junior season after rushing for 400-plus yards as a sophomore. Bahm likes to score touchdowns finishing his sophomore campaign with 12. He has break-away speed and is a shifty ball carrier.
Jesse Greenly Jesse Greenly 5'11" | 220 lbs | RB Atchison | 2023 State KS , 5’0”, 200, Atchison – Greenly is a bulldozer with the ball. His future might be at linebacker, however, he is young enough to evolve his frame to play multiple positions. The Redmen fullback rushed for 457 yards and four touchdowns. He is a north/south runner and a solid lead blocker. Greenly is also a solid basketball player who should have lots of recruitment options in his future.
Gannon White Gannon White 5'9" | 155 lbs | QB El Dorado | 2023 State KS , 5’9”, 152, El Dorado – White is the first of two Wildcat sophomores in this report. He plays quarterback for Eld Dorado and rushed for 338 yards while passing for 234. White leads El Dorado’s run-oriented offense and could move to running back. You can bet hometown Butler County Community College will be watching the local weapon.
Jalen Rice, 6’0”, 175, El Dorado – Rice is another interesting prospect in the El Dorado program. He rushed for 233 yards and can break-off long runs as he had a 41-yard scamper against Labette County in 2020. Rice also plays linebacker and finished his sophomore season with 31 tackles.
