1. Mason Shorb – Rouse High School (Leander, TX)
One of the most prolific sophomore quarterbacks last season, Shorb threw for 3,100 yards and 39 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He led Rouse into the playoffs until the Raiders were upset by Liberty Hill 56-42. However, that game was arguably his best as he threw for 408 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions. Things do look up for Rouse as the Raiders have the makings of a great team that could go far into the playoffs with Shorb continuing to gain experience after an already great performance for his sophomore year.

2. Austin Novosad – Dripping Springs High School (Dripping Springs, TX)
A quarterback that made just a few mistakes, Novosad has excellent decision-making and accuracy as he threw for 2,673 yards and 35 touchdowns with just four interceptions, according to MaxPreps. Novosad’s best performance was against Seguin, where he threw for 560 yards and seven touchdowns with three interceptions. Despite this performance, Dripping Springs lost to Seguin 70-63. While the Tigers have some more things to work on as a team, Dripping Springs is emerging as a dark horse team that could surprise football fans either next year or the year after.

3. Kevin Brashears – Stevens High School (San Antonio, TX)
Another quarterback that shows promise is Brashears, who threw for 2,329 yards and 19 touchdowns with eight interceptions. Despite the large number of interceptions, these were only acquired in a few games and three were against the always elite defense of Westlake. The point being, the number of interceptions does not tell the full story and usually, Brashears is great at decision-making. Brashears is also mobile, as he rushed for 511 yards and 10 touchdowns and against teams like Clark, even preferred to run the ball, rushing for 164 yards and three touchdowns.
4. Ashton Dubose – Brennan High School (San Antonio, TX)
Given the amount of talent within the San Antonio area, Dubose has a lot of potential especially throwing for 1,452 yards and 21 touchdowns with just four interceptions, according to MaxPreps. He also rushed for 587 yards and seven touchdowns. He has already shown his ability to be a mobile quarterback who can run the ball if throwing it proves a challenge against a tough pass defense. However, based off his MaxPreps profile, Dubose is well on his way to a successful junior season, especially if he puts the effort in.
5. Bo Edmundson – Lake Travis High School (Austin, TX)
Not much has been updated on MaxPreps for Lake Travis, but what has been posted is he has thrown for 1,409 yards and 17 touchdowns with two interceptions. This is not his full official stat, but from what is seen he already has the potential to be an elite quarterback especially by the time his senior season rolls around. He was able to put up 448 yards and six touchdowns against Hays, which is always a tough team to face. Edmundson will likely become a household name next year and his stock will just continue to rise after that.
