Continue ReadingWithin the past two decades the college passing game has filtered down to the high school level and up to the pro ranks. These elite eight Midwest quarterbacks can transition to the next level without issue due to their skill level and athleticism running wide open offensive schemes. They all show excellent on-field decision making abilities and passing talents.
- Tayven Jackson Tayven Jackson 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Center Grove | 2022 State IN 6’5” 195 Greenwood, Indiana Cedar Grove
A real dual threat quarterback, Jackson can destroy a defense with his legs as well as his arm. He is most impressive with his pocket presence. He instinctively steps up or slides in the pocket to avoid a heavy rush. Tayven is excellent at running the read option, knowing when to handoff and when to keep the ball. He can rifle the football on target even when having to throw across his body. Jackson has multiple D1 offers but is uncommitted at this point.
- Brady Allen Brady Allen 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Gibson Southern | 2022 State IN 6’5” 195 Fort Branch, Indiana Gibson Southern
Allen is a pro style quarterback that displays a great touch on his passes, especially when throwing vertical routes. He has a quick release and throws with accuracy when off balance or being flushed from the pocket. Allen shows impressive arm strength when sprinting out and delivering the pass on the move. His height is a distinct advantage in being able to throw over top off on rushing defensive linemen. Brady is verbally committed to Purdue University.
- Jaxon Dailey Jaxon Dailey 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Southeast Polk | 2022 State IA 6’3” 195 Pleasant Hill, Iowa Southeast Polk
“Poise under pressure” describes this Dailey’s competitive spirit as he moves around in the pocket even in the face of hard rushing defenders. This left hander throws the ball on a rope when he has to and can throw the fade and corner routes with great touch. He is an effective and elusive runner in the openfield. Dailey understands coverages and shows great timing on his release. Jaxon is showing a slight lean to Iowa State but has multiple offers.
- Chase Harrison Chase Harrison 6'3" | 215 lbs | QB Centerville | 2022 State OH 6’2” 205 Centerville, Ohio
Harrison is a cool and calm dual threat quarterback that holds the football long enough for his receivers to clear coverage. He can run the boot and sprint out passes to perfection by being able to throw the football through small windows even when on the move. Harrison doesn’t possess exceptional speed but runs well enough to pickup first downs and keep drives alive. He displays excellent decision making and timing in releasing the ball. He currently is leaning to Illinois upon graduation.
- Drew Allar Drew Allar 6'5" | 215 lbs | QB Medina | 2022 State OH 6’5” 220 Medina, Ohio
Allar is a tall and physically impressive pro style dropback quarterback who isn’t afraid to go deep anywhere on the football field. Throwing a lot from an empty set, he stands tall under pressure and delivers the football with accuracy. Allar isn’t afraid to take a hit as he releases the football but his nifty footwork allows him to avoid the sack the vast majority of the time as he eludes rushers. He seems to be favoring the Pittsburgh Panthers for his football future.
- Kaden Cobb Kaden Cobb 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Fenwick | 2022 State IL 6’3” 185 Oak Park, Illinois Fenwick
This southpaw is outstanding at running the spread offense. Cobb is one of the more athletic quarterbacks in the Midwest and makes good decisions on the run. He throws the ball between the hashes with velocity hitting his receivers as they separate from defenders. Cobb routinely hits the quick outs and slants due to his ability to pre-read the coverage. He may end up being recruited as an athlete instead of quarterback at the next level.
- Dontrell Jackson 5’11’ 183 Chicago, Illinois Marist
Jackson is an outstanding dual-threat, spread offense quarterback who can burn defenses with his passing talents and running abilities. Opposing defenses must assign an extra defender to this guy or he will put the football under his arm and head straight to the endzone; runs the football like a tailback. Jackson has a rocket release and puts the ball on the money with consistency. Dontrell will take his talents to Coastal Carolina in 2022.
- Jacob Eggert Jacob Eggert 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Mankato East | 2022 State MN 6’1” 180 Mankato, Minnesota East
Jacob plays bigger than his size by his steady play as a dropback quarterback. He could play in a variety of offensive systems due to his ability to pre-read defenses and quick decision making post-snap. Eggert is impressive throwing sideline and seam routes. He can keep the play alive with his feet as he escapes the pocket from a heavy rush and delivers the ball to open receivers. At the next level he will need to put on some bulk.
