Many are versatile enough to play on the line of scrimmage, in the backfield, or split out. The top eight are multi-sport athletes that also are impressive on the defensive side of the football.
- Elijah Brown Elijah Brown 5'11" | 250 lbs | OL Benilde-St. Margaret's | 2020 State MN 6’5” 230 Huber Heights, Ohio Wayne
Elijah is an intimidating physical tight end with good speed. He is a dominating blocker both along the line of scrimmage and downfield. Brown is a good route runner for a tight end and is an excellent target when going vertical. He is a hard man to bring down once he has the football in his possession. Brown’s athleticism allows him to be used as a flexed tight end or a slot receiver as well as a conventional tight end. Brown is committed to Alabama.
- Eli Raridon Eli Raridon 6'6" | 230 lbs | TE Valley | 2022 State IA 6’6” 220 West Des Moines, Iowa Valley
This outstanding multi-sport athlete has a huge wingspan along with soft hands, making him a great red zone target. Eli uses his hands well in controlling the defender once he gets locked on. His quick feet and agility are an asset both in the running and passing game. Eli is an effective play action receiving tight end when running the boot or tight end delay. He has a great frame to build on and should be a big time D1 player. He is currently showing a strong lean to Notre Dame.
- Josh Kattus Josh Kattus 6'4" | 240 lbs | TE Moeller | 2022 State OH 6’5” 240 Cincinnati, Ohio Moeller
Kattus is one of the most mature tight ends in the Midwest both physically and technically. Powerful in the core and upper body, he moves defensive linemen off the line and into the second level on a regular basis. He runs precise tight end routes and know how to stay in the vision of a scrambling quarterback. Kattus is a reliable receiver that has made a number of one hand acrobatic catches and is extremely difficult to bring down. Look for Josh to go to the University of Michigan in 2022.
- Max Whistner 6’6” 240 Lee’s Summit, Missouri
Max is one of the most physically dominating players in the Midwest as a tight end and defensive end. He has good knee bend for his height and moves defenders at the point of attack with his power and excellent blocking fundamentals. Whistner is just as an able receiver as blocker. He has sure hands and can pick up extra yards after the catch due to his ability to shake off or run over defensive backs and linebackers. Max will play for the Missouri Tigers after graduation.
- James Kyle James Kyle 6'6" | 225 lbs | TE Loyola | 2022 State IL 6’5” 220 Wilmette, Illinois Loyola Academy
Kyle is another one of those football/basketball athletes that excels in both sports. He is a tall rangy tight end that is versatile enough to also line up as a wingback, H-back, or slot receiver. He uses his long arms to keep defenders off his body and to get into the frame of the opponent. A solid blocker, Kyle can get push off the line of scrimmage and runs his feet on contact. He is effective red zone and possession receiving tight end who has multiple D1 offers.
- Jack Tippman 6’5” 220 Fort Wayne, Indiana Bishop Dwenger
Tippman is one of the best blocking tight ends in the Midwest both at the line of scrimmage and downfield. He really locks on to defenders and drives them off the line and often into the turf. He is a versatile football player that can line up on the ball, flexed out, or in the backfield. Tippman is a reliable receiving tight end that is hard to bring down after the reception. He isn’t afraid to catch the ball over the middle and always give great effort till the whistle blows.
- Ryan Miller Ryan Miller 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Dublin Jerome | 2021 State OH 6’6” 215 Chagrin Falls, Ohio Kenston
Miller is a tall and lanky tight end that is perfect for a spread offense at the collegiate level. He is a smooth and fluid receiver with excellent hands. He can line up as a slot receiver in trips or twins formation as well as the wing or home position. Miller is an impressive blocker from on and off the ball who uses his hands well and finishes by driving his legs. Miller has the frame to put on weight at the next level and is currently showing a slight lean to Iowa State.
- Teigan Martin Teigan Martin 6'6" | 220 lbs | TE Mayer Lutheran | 2022 State MN 6’7” 215 Mayer, Minnesota Lutheran
Martin is a versatile tight end who could be an exceptional college tight end once he gets into a D1 strength and conditioning program. He is currently more of a position blocker than a guy who knocks defenders off the line. He does use his hands well in controlling the defender. Martin is a go to guy in terms of a receiving tight end due to his ball skills and height. He can get vertical quickly and can high point the football in a crowd. Iowa State seems to be his favorite at this point in recruiting.
