Williams added his first offer from South Alabama. Memphis and Tulane followed, but Ole Miss made it official on February 22nd. The Rebels became the first in-state program to offer Williams.

Athletes like Williams do not come around very often. In Mississippi circles, he most closely resembles former Horn Lake Eagle Jakivuan Brown (6’3″ 235) who signed with Ole Miss in the 2020 cycle. Brown was another huge athlete who could do a variety of things at the high school level. At times, people thought he would be an athletic slot TE, but he ended up signing as a linebacker. Williams may have even more potential than Brown did to play a variety of positions. Currently at the high school level, he plays QB and LB.
As a quarterback, Trevion Williams could be one of the most threatening players to game plan for as a defensive coordinator. His athleticism makes him a huge threat in the run game. Williams will take direct snaps and run power as a quarterback, bowling over any defenders in his way. He is also twitchy and able to change direction well in the pocket. When the rush comes, he can cut on a dime and take off. Williams runs strong and hard. Most DBs seem to tense up when he is seen running towards them. While a great runner, the athlete is also a solid passer. Williams has a huge arm capable of getting the ball 50-60+ yards down field. He has an excellent deep ball when asked to throw it downfield. As fun of a high school quarterback Trevion Williams is, his future is probably at another position.
With his ridiculous height, weight and length combination, Williams looks like the prototypical MIKE or SAM linebacker. At Crystal Springs, he lines up at MIKE and commands the defense. Williams’ excellent speed allows him to make plays from sideline to sideline with ease. When offenses try to run outside the tackles, he is the first person to meet the runner in the backfield. Hitting with power and getting off blocks, it is very easy to tell how strong Williams is. Williams is the kind of guy that will absolutely crush weight room max day and combine events at camps. Due to his athleticism, Williams can also drop back into coverage. Due to his size alone, he is disruptive in passing lanes and can cover well. Although he has more film as a zone defender, Williams has all the tools to play man up on a TE or RB out of the backfield.

While he is primarily a QB and LB at the high school level, Williams is capable of doing almost anything for a college team. If he decides he wants to continue playing offense, there are many TE based schemes that would love to have a strong and fast athlete at tight end for them. If he wants to keep playing defense, LB is a perfect fit in almost any modern era defensive scheme. We won’t rule out Williams’ ability to add 20-30 pounds and put his hand in the dirt at defensive lineman either. Trevion Williams is one of the most impressive under the radar athletes in Mississippi. It will not be surprising to watch him be one of the quickest early risers throughout the year.
