This week, Governor Gavin Newsom and health officials have talked with high school football coaches about a way to possibly get the players back on the field as early as March, which is exciting.
But Wednesday, student-athletes and their families got a chance to take a break from the stresses of the news and celebrate signing their letters of intent.
Here is a list of San Diego area football players who signed their letters of intent on Wednesday, Feb, 3.
Devin Bale – La Jolla – K/P – Northern Colorado
Hunter Bohannon – Westview – DB – Southwest Minnesota State
Trey Bradford – San Marcos – DB – Fordham University
Congratulations to Trey Bradford as he signs his NLI for Fordham University! #GoKnights pic.twitter.com/ETThZeSSCS

Jessie Campbell Jessie Campbell 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Mater Dei Catholic | 2021 State CA – Mater Dei Catholic – WR – Southern Utah
Notes: One of the top receivers in the county. He was previously committed to Army and chose Southern Utah over some FBS schools like Air Force and New Mexico. Campbell is a lengthy receiver with long strides and can create matchup problems for some corners.
Byron Cardwell Byron Cardwell 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB Morse | 2021 State CA – Morse – RB – Oregon
Notes: The top running back in the state. He had offers from Most of the top programs in the nation. Cardwell has the ability to make plays as a runner and a receiver. Shifty enough to make guys miss in space and strong enough to run between the tackles.
Marquel Davis – San Diego – DB – Anna Maria College
Troy Faulkner – Mission Hills – OL – Colorado State-Pueblo
Notes: One of the best interior lineman in the county. He is a 4.0 student and a thrower on the track team. He is strong and athletic and does a good job finding linebackers at the next level in the running game. Faulkner will join his sister who is a track athlete at Colorado State-Pueblo.
So proud of you @Troy_Faulkner21 ! Thanks to all who have supported. #GoPack @HighIntensitySD @Daygofootball @KUSIPPR @MBASports1 @PrepRedzoneCA @TrenchSkill619 @coachdanruiz @mhhsgrizfball @SDFNLMagazine @sdfootball @SDPreps @247Sports @CSUPFootball @WBKsports pic.twitter.com/yw8urSUBJw

Vincent Fonoti – Oceanside – LB – Benedictine (Kansas)
Christian Gaeta – St. Augustine – DL – University of San Diego
Clarence Johnson – El Cajon Valley – WR – Black Hills State
Shawn Martinez – Helix – OL – Southwest Minnesota State
Justus McComb – Granite Hills – QB – Southwest Minnesota State
Notes: McComb is a dual-threat quarterback who threw for 2,691 yards and 24 touchdowns last season and ran for 494 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Performed well at offseason camps but would have benefitted from a senior season. He committed almost instantly after being offered by coach Cory Sauter.
Congrats to @GHHS_athletics @justus_mccomb on officially signing with @SMUfootball! #NLI pic.twitter.com/xoSUTGjoFT

Jayden Parafina – Morse – DB – Southwest Minnesota State
Noah Pisia – Christian – RB/LB – Western Colorado
Shai-Rohn Ramsey – San Diego – WR – Lake Erie College
Raymond Romero Jr. – Mater Dei Catholic – WR – Concordia St. Paul
Domonick Schoop – Helix – DB – Southwest Minnesota State
Josh Simmons Josh Simmons 6'6" | 285 lbs | OL Helix | 2021 State CA – Helix – OL – San Diego State
Notes: Arguably the top offensive lineman in the state. For awhile he limited himself to only being recruited as a defensive player but had a change of heart and San Diego State was all in. Simmons wanted to stay close to home and will likely get early playing time at San Diego State.
Kenneth Stevenson – Lincoln – RB – Southwest Minnesota State
Gianni Walsh – Madison – OL – University of San Diego
Bryzai White – Morse – TE – Eastern New Mexico
@lilbwhite11 Bryzai White c/o 2021 6’4 245 DE/TE 201 rec yds, 2 TD, 45 tckl, 3 sacks https://t.co/7rF9ewOFSi pic.twitter.com/gn8PppRDNG

Darhon Yarbrough – Morse – TE – Southwest Minnesota State
Notes: Big body tight end at 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds and one of the many players in the class from San Diego to go to Southwest Minnesota State. He makes catches over the middle and is hard for defensive backs to bring down. Yarbrough is a very good run blocker as well.
