Legacy 7 on 7: 2022’s Offense
I got the pleasure of going to Legacy’s 7 on 7 practice on January 23rd. I spent time talking with the 2022’s that were in attendance as they are in the middle of their high school careers. For some they already have their college football careers in motion, for others, they are still awaiting an offer. Here are the offensive 2022’s in the Legacy program.
James Burford Jr (22’ QB) Richards 3.2 GPA
Burford runs the read-option where he utilizes his mobility, speed, and quick acceleration. He has a solid touch on the deep ball putting it in the WR basket hitting them in stride. Burford is able to evade pressure when the pocket is collapsing where he showcases his accuracy with his throw on the run. During 7 on 7, he would set his feet before throwing and getting throws to the receivers in tight windows. Burford is a solid dual-threat QB that has untapped potential, keep an eye on him this spring season as he’s going to turn heads with his fellow Richards teammates.
Dodson Dold (22′ QB) Bremen 3.0 GPA
Dold is more of a traditional pocket passer that goes through his reads to find the open receiver downfield. He is accurate in all three throws (short, intermediate, and deep balls) where he puts an extra zip on the ball to get the ball to the WR faster. Dold also has solid pocket footwork where he set his feet before throwing and has a fluid release that allows him to get the ball out quickly. All Dold is missing is game film, once he gets this during the spring season he’ll start getting looks from the next level.
Ernest Tetter (22’RB) Mt. Carmel 3.6 GPA
Tetter is a bigger back that gets it done in the running game, he also can catch coming out of the backfield. He has solid hands to make contested catches with a defender all over him and utilizes his speed cut to create separation. He runs a combination of routes from the backfield and even lines out-wide at receiver as well. Tetter is another one of the Legacy players that just needs game film to showcase what he can do with the pads on.
Adam Alcantar (22’ WR/CB) Oak Lawn 4.8 GPA
Alcantar is flying high under the radar in the recruiting process, he’s a deadly slot WR that you can count on to get the 1st down. He has a quick burst off the LOS which helps him set up his deep routes with his speed cuts breaking the defender off which creates separation and where he makes contested catches. Alcantar displays his high efforts by laying out for the balls to get the 1st down, blocking downfield to ensure his teammates get into the endzone, and in the return game where he fights for extra yards. Once he gets his Junior year on film his recruiting will skyrocket as not many teams have him on their radar.
Sterlen Henton (22’ WR/DB) St. Laurence 3.3 GPA
Henton is a deep threat that runs by defenders with his speed and is good in open space. He makes catches in traffic, pancakes the defensive back in the running game, and is a playmaker for his team. He has a highly competitive nature that drives his work ethic and pushes him to work hard. Henton currently has been in contact with Yale, Bemidji State, and Columbia University.
Travis Garmon Jr (22’ WR) Richards 2.5 GPA
Garmon is another under the radar player in this Legacy program that has a high catch radius. He will go up and get the ball making those contested catches by high pointing the ball. Garmon has a quick burst off the LOS which he utilizes to stack the defender and break them off at the top of his routes with a speed cut. He’s been working on his craft day in and day out to improve his skills and elevate his play for the next level. He’s hungry and is coming to showcase what he can do during the spring season. Once he has this film, expect offers to start coming his way as he still has untapped potential and further room to develop his skillset.
Ak’Tavion Agee (22’ WR) Marist 4.07 GPA
Agee is a transfer from St. Rita where he played slot WR, he has a quick burst off the LOS which he utilizes to burst past the 2nd level of defenders on his corner and 9 route. Agee has quick acceleration where once he catches the ball he plants his foot and turns upfield, he also uses his speed in jet sweeps to turn the corner. He makes contested catches downfield and has solid body control to stay inbounds when the defenders attempt to push him out of bounds. Agee is going to turn heads at Marist this spring season, I expect his recruiting to open up after he has varsity film.
Maurice Brown (22′ WR) Brother Rice 3.2 GPA
Brown is an up and coming WR at Brother Rice, he has a solid frame topped with a big catch radius. He’s a deep threat that can take the top off of the defense and high points the ball to make contested catches. Once he catches the ball he plants his foot and turns upfield fighting for extra yards. Brown also has a solid toe-tap making sideline catches, during the 7 on 7 practice he had a quick burst off the LOS that helped him set up his speed cuts to create separation from the defender.
Dakobie Wordlaw II (22’ WR) Brother Rice 2.5 GPA
Wordlaw plays WR from the slot, he catches the ball and gets upfield, and has a solid toe-tap to make the grab on the sideline (he also did it for a TD in the back of the endzone). Wordlaw is a deep threat that uses his quick acceleration to get a step on the defender giving him the advantage to make contested catches. He has a solid release when he’s being pressed, runs the wildcat, and is used in jet sweeps. The WR tandem with him and Maurice Brown is going to be deadly for Brother Rice the next few seasons. Keep an eye on both of these players as they can become a top WR duo in the state.
Notables:
Korey Flowers (22′ QB) Simeon 3.0 GPA
Trevon Sanders (22′ WR) Argo 2.36 GPA
Marcus Seabrook (22′ WR) Argo 3.9 GPA
Syrr Harrington (22′ WR) TF South – 3.8 GPA
Jaquel Adams (22’ WR) Dwight D. Eisenhower
This Legacy 2022 team is going to cause problems when they start competing. Each of these players makes plays for their respected teams and aren’t going to disappoint in this shortened season. I would like to thank the Legacy 7 on 7 staff for their hospitality and for having me out for their practice. They have a great program that focuses on developing kids for the next level and preparing them for life after football.
