A two way standout with playmaking abilities, Briggs is an interesting talent that really could excel on either side of the ball which in turn excites college coaches about his upside and potential on the next level.
“I am a playmaker, no matter what side of the ball you put me on, “ said Briggs. “On offense, I am more of a take the top off the defense type of guy, take direct snaps, end arounds, basically anything asked of me on offense, I will do it.”
“On defense, I just go get the ball. My coaches have always taught me to see the ball, get the ball and that’s what I do. I play with relentless effort and energy and I am always looking to make a game changing play.”
Those kinds of abilities and the confidence that Briggs plays with is something collegiate coaches can get down with and harness.
The programs with the best shot at developing Briggs is currently Jackson St., Liberty, LSU, Marshall, Tennessee and UAB as these are the six programs that the Memphis based talent recently named his top schools.
Briggs does not currently have a favorite. He holds all six schools on equal ground right now and had good things to say about each program ……
Tennessee: “I love the campus and I know a few familiar faces already on the team. You can also receive a strong education there, so that appeals to me. The fans are friendly and passionate. It’s also my home state school.
LSU: “This is the first school that believed in me. They offered me before anybody else did and that will always stick out to me. I love the coaching staff and I mean LSU speaks for itself.”
Liberty: “I love Liberty as a whole. The fans, coaches, everything about Liberty is great. They want to place me at slot or even running back which fits my talents and their scheme well. I really like the program and think they are on the rise.”
Marshall: “I don’t know much about Marshall but I know Coach Bowman and I appreciate the offer from him. He is from my hometown, so I know he and the other coaches there would make me feel comfortable. I’m excited to learn more about them”
UAB: “One of their coaches flat out told me that I am very high on their recruiting board. I really appreciate that. They appear to like me a lot and my mom has always told me to go where they want you, not where you want to go, so I will be looking into UAB a lot more.”
Jackson St.: “I really like the HBCU’s but when I visited Jackson St., it really made me feel at home. The town of Jackson doesn’t appear much different from my hometown, so I could see myself there. I also believe in the coaches and the culture they are trying to change down there.”
These six schools have a leg up on recruiting Briggs but that doesn’t mean the West Tennessee product will close the doors to others and not consider new options.
Just this week after announcing his top programs, Briggs received a new offer from Western Kentucky and the Hilltoppers will certainly not be the last offer received.
Briggs is also in no rush to make his final decision. His plans right now is to continue training, play 7v7 ball and take visits if possible before nailing down a commitment.
