Players from University High school, Trinity Christian, and of course Morgantown’s very own High school. These are some athletes who have had impressive careers up to this point and should prove to be elite prospects to watch this season. Let us take a look to see who the top area prospects are and who is representing their team’s talent for their respective schools.
Donald Brandel ( 22 ) | 6-2 OLB/DB | University HS
Very big frame and size for an OLB and even at the defensive back position where he is sometimes lined up. His junior year in 6 games he had 67 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 3 tackles for loss. He did that with his amazing athletic ability and build. He has an impressive pursuit to the ball and that is why he was able to put up such good stats his junior year only playing 6 games in the year. I really like this prospect at the DB position because of his size at 6-2, ability to guard against the pass, and ability to tackle in the open field.
Chase Edwards ( 23 ) | 6-0 QB | University HS
A pro-style quarterback that can pick defenses apart from the pocket. He has a nice drop back, footwork could improve, but overall a very impressive thrower. He can split double coverage and throw down the middle of the field in traffic due to his velocity he can put on the ball. Dont overlook his athletic ability, this QB has some speed and doesn’t mind tucking the ball and running with it.
Colin McBee ( 22 ) | 6-0 MLB / RB | University HS
I like Colin’s athleticism, versatility, and ability to make plays. This guy is a football player, that can be lined up at linebacker, running back, and even tight end on occasion. On defense, due to his speed and athleticism, he can make plays and has the terrific pursuit of the ball. He plays against the pass well and can make plays on the ball by knocking down passes or intercepting them. His build is impressive that pairs well with his athleticism. Overall I think this is a terrific prospect for an FCS or Division II school and could produce a lot on the field.
Sebastian Dalton ( 23 ) | 6-0 QB | Morgantown HS
Two-sport athlete plays basketball and football. He is very good on the court as well as on the gridiron. I think he is a decent dual-threat QB but needs some improvement.
Jaiden Evans ( 22 ) | 6-5 DE | Morgantown HS
Well first off, what impresses me the most is Jaden’s size and frame at 6-5. Also has an impressive wingspan. They play Jaiden on both sides of the line on offense and defense. However, I think I like him best when he is lined up at left tackle. He seems to have a good base of low center of gravity and can drive blocks. This is a very raw talented prospect with the intangibles and skills that can be coached at the next level.
Marquis Mauney ( 22 ) | 6-3 WR / DB | Morgantown HS
What impressed me about Marquis was his size and speed. According to his hudl account, he runs a 4.5 and I would have to say I believe that. He’s versatile, can be lined up at wideout or free safety. I like him best at FS, due to his size, speed, and physical nature. I wouldn’t even mind lining the big fella over at the tight end, blocks well out in open space at WR.
