There are still D-I down to D-III rosters that need to be filled for both scholarship spots and PWO opportunities. Below we will dive into some of the best available 2021 OL/DL in Northern California that remain unsigned after the second and final signing day.
Cole Gustafson 6’5″ 288 Ibs., Rocklin HS
Playing for one of the top teams in all of Northern California, The Rocklin High School standout has a solid Junior year in which he displayed good athleticism for his size, solid lateral movement ability and played with good toughness while finishing blocks at the first and second level. With plus size/length at the position and playing with good patience in pass pro, he should find his home at the next level sooner rather than later.
Logan Wiemann 6’1″ 240 Ibs., Live Oak HS
Built to fit in nicely as a 4-3 defensive end at the next level, Wiemann has a very good Junior season playing as an edge defender. An extremely tough and physical prospect, Wiemann is a violent defender that displays a quick use of hands upon contact and can win with both strength and speed/pass rush ability. While rushing the passer, he does a good job at flipping his hips/reducing his surface area and staying under control through out the top of his rush while also athletic enough to chase down ball carriers and tackle/close in space. A very intriguing prospect, he has the ability to play at the D-II and D-III level while having a shot to play at the FCS level as well.
Kelvin Jackson 6’3″ 280 Ibs., Center HS
One of the most versatile players in the Sacramento area, Jackson can either play 3-tech or guard at the next level. A very explosive and strong prospect, Jackson is a terrific athlete that moves well in space, blocks well on the second and third levels and finishes/sustains blocks while keeping a strong base and good hand placement. Also having enough twitch and movement ability to play on the defensive side of the ball, he will have an immediate impact on a D-II or D-III roster and has future FBS/FCS potential.
Mason Reese 6’2″ 285 Ibs., Las Lomas HS
Projected as an interior player at the next level, Reese had a very good Junior season anchoring the line for a team that made it deep into the Northern California playoffs. On tape, Reese has good first step quickness and natural instincts at the position while doing a good job at shooting his hands in a hurry and redirecting blockers in traffic while violently disengaging without giving up ground. Extremely physical inside, Reese wins with good strength and plays with good pad level and leg drive at the point of attack. He will be another steal for a D-II or D-III program if that is where he lands in the coming months, but has division I capabilities.
Ian Prchlik 6’2″ 240 Ibs., Skyline HS (Oakland)
Still waiting to find a new home at the next level, Prchlik is a versatile player that projects as a guard or defensive tackle at the next level. Having solid overall size for the position, he plays with a low pad level and leg drive on first level blocks while also being athletic enough to pull and block in space while staying engaged with defenders. Possessing good overall strength and a high motor, he projects as a D-II or D-III prospect that should continue to see college interest come his way.
