Continue ReadingThe Ohio State Buckeyes have raided the peach state in recent days as they’ve dished out multiple offers to some of the state’s top prospects. The Buckeyes have always recruited the state of Georgia well and are looking to do the same for the foreseeable future.
One defensive lineman who recently earned an Ohio State offer is four-star Christen Miller Christen Miller 6'6" | 285 lbs | DL Cedar Grove | 2022 State GA of Cedar Grove. Miller released his Final 4 in late January that included Georgia, Florida, Georgia Tech, and Indiana. The Buckeyes entered the mix a few days later after offering, and many feel his Ohio State offer has given him second thoughts in his recruitment. Miller is a big-time interior lineman with great size and quickness at 6-foot-5 285-pounds. He has a limited season in 2020, but Miller showed that he can stuff the run in the middle and is quick enough to get after the passer from his interior line position.

If there’s one 2023 prospect to know in Georgia, it’s five-star DE Leebeus Overton. The 6-foot-5 250-pound dual-sport athlete is dominant both on the basketball court and on the gridiron. Arguably the nation’s top 2023 football prospect, Overton was offered an opportunity to play both sports at Ohio State. The Max Preps freshman All-American led the state in sacks last season with 21.5. He’s an elite pass rusher and has the potential to make lots of plays on Sundays down the road.

Another 2023 prospect earning a Buckeye offer was running back Justice Haynes Justice Haynes 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Buford | 2023 State GA . The 5-foot-10 185-pound back was the most productive back in the state last year with 1,790 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns in just nine games. He checks all the boxes at running back with his size, speed, balance, vision, and ability to break tackles. He’s a threat to score every time he touches the ball and has a chance to be the top-ranked running back in the entire country in the 2023 class. The Buckeyes join Georgia, Florida, and many more on Haynes’ offer list.

Another defensive lineman who picked up a Buckeye offer is 2023 lineman Stantavious Smith Stantavious Smith 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Dougherty | 2023 State GA of Dougherty. The Albany native is a strong, thick interior lineman at 6-foot-3 250-pounds who already holds offers from some impressive Power 5 schools. He’s a versatile lineman who will likely start out on the edge, but could move inside down the road as he continues to add more weight and muscle. He’s one of the top overall defenders in the region and could be one of the state’s top overall prospects in the 2021 class. Smith now holds offers from Ohio State, LSU, Florida, Florida State, among others.

The Buckeyes offered another 2023 defender this week in elite safety prospect, Caleb Downs Caleb Downs 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Mill Creek | 2023 State GA . The Mill Creek star in Gwinnett County is coming off an excellent sophomore season and it already knows as one of the top overall defensive backs in the 2023 class. He has great size already at 5-foot-11 180-pounds with big-time playmaking ability. He already looks the part from a physical standpoint and has the film to back up his lofty ranking. Downs has 5-star potential and is expected to have a big season for Hawks as a junior. As a sophomore last fall, Downs totaled 57 tackles and intercepted four passes. He also gained 237 total yards on offense.
