Both are ranked in the top five in the state in the class of 2023 (No. 2 and No. 5, respectively). But this group will continue to expand as players prosper and grow. Here are a few more names the scouts at PrepRedzone and college coaches will be watching over the next two seasons.
Tyler Gant Tyler Gant 6'3" | 280 lbs | DL CBC | 2023 State MO , Christian Brothers College (No. 3 DL and No. 17 overall)
Gant seems to get better every rep he takes. Early in 2020, the game appeared too fast for him. By the time CBC was in the playoffs, Gant was abusing offensive linemen. That is what high school football and life, for that matter, are all about. Gant has a quick first step, plays with leverage, and is extremely powerful. This ascending player who already has college offers will only get better with time.
Trevor Buhr Trevor Buhr 6'4" | 260 lbs | DL Washington | 2023 State MO , Washington (No. 4 DL and No. 25 overall)
Players this age are not supposed to be as adept with their technical skills as Buhr. The powerful man is aggressive and productive with his hand usage. His ability to gain separation with power and then to shed is high level. Watching him on tape reminds me of Notre Dame signee Gabe Rubio with his ability to win with power and leverage. Major ceiling for the Washington project.
Edric Hill Edric Hill 6'3" | 270 lbs | DL North Kansas City | 2023 State MO , North Kansas City (No. 8 DL and No. 70 overall)
On the next two players, I will call myself out. Edric Hill Edric Hill 6'3" | 270 lbs | DL North Kansas City | 2023 State MO is a man-child and should be ranked higher than No. 8 and No. 70. He is powerful off the snap, plays under control, and is vicious on the tackle. Hill already has multiple D-1 offers and will only garner more as he hones his game in and learns the nuances of the game. I really look forward to watching his development.
Chandavian Bradley Chandavian Bradley 6'5" | 215 lbs | DL Platte County | 2023 State MO , Platte County (Not Ranked)
I totally dropped the ball on this one but I am not too proud to jump on the hype wagon now. I did not get tape on Bradley until the rankings were published and that hurts. The dude comes off the football like a rocket off the edge and wrecks havoc in the backfield. If I was a college coach, I would offer him off potential and speed alone. I can teach him the rest. I will not be surprised if Bradley ends up being the best defensive lineman in the entire class.
