Here are five backs from the Class of 2022 Class 4A Ranks who finished among the state leaders in rushing.
Zack Sizemore, 6’0”, 175, Basehor-Linwood – Sizemore is a perfect combination of size and speed. He rushed for 1,690 yards and 21 touchdowns for the Bobcats in 2020. Sizemore follows his blockers well and has break-away speed.
Brayden Beerbower Brayden Beerbower 6'3" | 185 lbs | ATH Eudora | 2022 State KS , 6’2”, 180, Eudora – Beerbower is more of a fullback than a tailback. He did lead Eudora in rushing with 1,205 yards in 2020. He has a frame that would allow him to play at tight end at the next level. He found the end zone eight times as a ball carrier in 2020 for the Cardinals.
Ashton Barkdull, 6’0”, 175, Andover Central – Barkdull rushed for 803 yards in 2020 for the Jaguars. He gains tough yards and is best running inside the tackle. He scored six touchdowns on the ground and will be counted on for a big season headed into his senior campaign.
Sky Schriner, 5’8”, 165, McPherson – Schriner was not the main offensive weapon for the Bullpups in 2020, but he might be relied on to carry a larger workload in 2021. As a junior, Schriner, rushed for 474 yards and finished with nine touchdowns on the ground. He looks to be a solid JUCO recruit.
Jayce Smith, 6’2”, 185, Bonner Springs – Smith can play quarterback or running back. In his junior season, he rushed for 473 yards in just six games. He had one game with 203 yards rushing. He ran for four touchdowns and threw for seven more.
