In the nearly four years since this program lost that contest to Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna, the team has certainly stayed in the mix – with tremendous coaching and outstanding athletes.
Coming off a 4-2 season – with Covid taking center stage, the Lions came up with big wins against Jupiter Christian (44-7), Boca Raton St. John Paul II Academy (28-21), Glades Day (41-20) and Englewood Lemon Bay (33-27).
The season came to an end with a playoff loss against Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian, but there was plenty of optimism – with some very talented players coming back for 2021.
USING ATHLETES ALL OVER THE FIELD
Being a smaller school, mostly every player competes on both sides of the ball – as well as on special teams.
The Class of 2022 reflects that with Will Barnowski (OL/DE, 6-2, 185), Kyle Garcia (OL/DL, 6-2, 245), Drew Kerr (RB/CB, 5-10, 170), Preston Martin (WR/DB, 6-1, 170), Stephen Scroggins Stephen Scroggins LB West Palm Beach The King’s Academy | 2022 FL (OL/LB, 6-2, 215), Dominick Ratty Dominick Ratty RB West Palm Beach The King's Academy | 2022 FL (RB/DB, 5-9, 165) and Taiyo Yamada (RB/LB, 5-8, 160).
In the classroom, Scroggins (3.85 GPA), Kerr (3.83) and Martin (3.4) are all getting it done.
2023 PROSPECTS ARE TOP-FLIGHT
In the 2023 Class, the Lions also boast a pair of future standouts, who are getting it done now.
Quarterback Will Prichard (6-3, 195) is among the best in the nation already. He is accurate and very athletic with a big arm.
Zakiah Saez (TE/DE, 6-5, 220) is also an impressive football talent that runs well (4.7 – 40) and is strong.
Both Prichard (3.1 GPA) and Saez (3.3 GPA) get it done in the classroom as well.
