The New Mexico Lobos have done an excellent job of recruiting the state of Arkansas recently. Lobos head coach Danny Gonzales and his coaching staff have made recruiting Arkansas a priority. We are going to look at the recruits that have earned scholarship offers from the Lobos.
The New Mexico coaching staff has placed an emphasis on offering some of the talented offensive linemen in the state of Arkansas. New Mexico offensive coordinator Derek Warehime has done an excellent job focusing on the state of Arkansas. The Lobos offered a scholarship to Siloam Springs offensive lineman Jace Sutulovich Jace Sutulovich 6'3" | 280 lbs | OL Siloam Springs | 2022 State AR in June of 2020. Sutulovich is quick out of the stance and plays with a mean streak. He is a solid pass blocker, and he does a great job of keeping his quarterback from being hit. Meanwhile, from a run blocking perspective, Sutulovich does a good job opening the rushing lane and is quick getting to the second level.
However, the Lobos have looked to build the offensive line and offering recruits here in Arkansas is a great way to accomplish that goal. New Mexico has started recruiting Camden Fairview High School impressively as well. The Cardinals have one of the best offensive line combinations in the state of Arkansas. Timothy Dawn is an offensive lineman that uses his speed and power well to drive the opposing defensive end into the ground. Dawn’s teammate Mark Welch Mark Welch 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Camden Fairview | 2022 State AR is a powerhouse offensive tackle that has the frame to support 310-pounds easily. Welch opens rushing lanes and displays good speed getting to the second level.
Meanwhile, looking at the playmakers that New Mexico has offered here in Arkansas is what we will focus upon next. The Lobos have offered three talented running backs in Arkansas. Arkansas has one of the best running back classes that the state has seen in some time taking center stage. The first running back we will focus on is Pulaski Academy’s Joe Himon Joe Himon 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Pulaski Academy | 2022 State AR . Himon is one of those running backs that is just as dangerous catching the football as he is running the ball. Himon averages 119 yards per game and has accounted for 57 touchdowns during his career.
Meanwhile Isaiah Broadway, runs angry and does not mind plowing over defenders. He does a great job of turning it up a notch in the open field. Broadway will give Sylvan Hills High School a home run threat every time he touches the football. The Lobos offering Broadway a scholarship is a no brainer, as they continue to attempt to improve the Lobos offense.
Little Rock Parkview running back James Jointer James Jointer 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB Little Rock Parkview | 2022 State AR and Arkadelphia wide receiver Jaishon Davis Jaishon Davis 6'2" | 200 lbs | ATH Arkadelphia | 2022 State AR are the final two players that have New Mexico scholarship offers. Jointer has elite speed and is a nightmare for the opposing defender to bring down. Jointer has 27 scholarship offers, so the Lobos offering an explosive running back should not come as a shock. As for Jaishon Davis Jaishon Davis 6'2" | 200 lbs | ATH Arkadelphia | 2022 State AR , Davis is a big play wide receiver with terrific speed. Davis does a nice job of not allowing the ball to get into his body. He is a threat to score from all over the field and would be a player that would give the New Mexico offense some punch.
The Lobos had a tough season and recruiting the talented players that we discussed is always a good plan to bring about improvement. New Mexico is checking off the offensive line, running back, wide receiver positions in the state of Arkansas. It is great for division one teams to realize that recruiting Arkansas is a good idea and can help a team turn the corner and improve.
