Fort Mill – WR/CB J.J. Ogwal
*2020 Season Stats: 16 solo tackles, 28 total tackles, 4.7 tackles per game, 6 pass deflections
Analysis: Ogwal is a two-way player who excels on both offense and defense, but his strength may be in what he’s able to do at receiver. He runs crisp, smooth routes where he’s able to make a clean catch and he gets right up field upon making the grab. There’s no juking or dancing in space from this guy. That versatility at receiver helps him at defensive back because he anticipates well what the receiver will do, which is a combo of experience and being a great student of the game. He’s also a great student in the classroom with a 3.6 GPA.
Legion Collegiate Academy – FS Judge Collier
Analysis: Collier is what you’re looking for at free safety. He has good instincts and anticipates where the quarterback is going to go with his throws. His backpedal is excellent which allows him to roam freely and make interceptions – he can get up and high point the ball. He’s also strong against the run as he recognizes the plays quickly and can come up and make big hits on the ball carrier. He’s excellent in the classroom with a 4.4 GPA.
Northwestern – FS Michael McMullen
Analysis: One of the things that jumped about McMullen watching his tape is how quickly he fills the ally on running plays. He’s also aggressive in getting to the ball and makes solid tackles on the ball carrier. He excels in getting off blocks, like on one play where we saw him force the runner back inside in order to allow the defense to make the tackle.
South Pointe – OL/DE Joshua Greenwood
Analysis: Greenwood is a strong offensive and defensive lineman who excels at either position, whether it be using his hands to knock the defensive tackle off the ball, not allowing him to get any penetration into the backfield right at the snap, or at the defensive end position, where he is a tough guy to handle as he can get after the quarterback with an extremely high motor. He is an excellent student in the classroom with a 3.75 GPA.
