FAN VOTE
Tyce Ortman Tyce Ortman 5'10" | 185 lbs | ATH Canistota-Freeman | 2021 State , ATH, Canistota-Freeman
Ortman got 49% of the 250 votes that came in on our Prep Redzone Dakotas Twitter poll. Ortman’s ability to break tackles in the state championship was almost freak-like against Warner. What we like most about Ortman is how he gets his yards. His ability to turn plays from nothing into something shows him as one of the most athletic ball carriers in the state. It’s almost like Ortman favors the inside run, which with his running ability, you would think he would be more of an outside runner but he just loves contact. A proven winner that’s blinged out with three state championships at Canistota-Freeman. Tyce Ortman Tyce Ortman 5'10" | 185 lbs | ATH Canistota-Freeman | 2021 State is a workhorse that will be a monster running back for the Northwestern (Iowa) Red Raiders.
I will be the one to say I gave Ortman my staff vote for this award, even though my staff went in a different direction. I could have watched every Pride game in the 2020 season, but the state championship against Warner was the icing on the cake for my staff vote. Congratulations to Tyce Ortman Tyce Ortman 5'10" | 185 lbs | ATH Canistota-Freeman | 2021 State for winning the fan vote!
STAFF VOTE
Connor Libis Connor Libis 5'9" | 160 lbs | ATH Dell Rapids-St. Mary's | 2021 State , QB, Dell Rapids St. Marys
Libis took 75% of our staff votes here at Prep Redzone Dakotas before sending out the fan vote. When you watch this Cardinals offense this year, Libis was the bread and butter of that offense. Libis has a remarkable ability to adjust on the run with what he is doing and that’s what made him such a playmaker this season in the Cardinal’s run to Vermillion.
Although their games are similar, the arm strength and touch Libis has on the football gave him the upper edge as another weapon to his game. You have to love how quickly Libis makes his move when he gets the football in his hands as he has an all-gas, no brakes mentality. He is such a versatile threat that the Cardinals had success lining him up anywhere on offense. Libis was also a dominant defensive back for Dell Rapids St. Marys
I’ll repeat myself, Briar Cliff needs to make this kid a priority to play two sports at the next level. There’s too much speed in his game to not utilize him in the game of college football. Congratulations to Connor Libis Connor Libis 5'9" | 160 lbs | ATH Dell Rapids-St. Mary's | 2021 State for winning the staff vote!
