2021 Names-to-Know During the Spring Season

The greatest motivator for many of the seniors playing in Colorado’s spring season is having an opportunity to garner attention and earn a scholarship to play at the next level. If the fall season taught us anything, it would be that the next play is not guaranteed.
With that being said, the list below contains the names of a few seniors who will be playing in an unprecedented spring season. The majority of the athletes on this list play on offense and defense, showing their versatility and their willingness to do whatever it takes to assist with the success of their team.
Drake Arthur | Boulder | 6’2” | TE/OLB
Like many of the names on this list, Arthur is a multisport athlete who excels on the hardwood and the gridiron. He finished his junior year with 43 total tackles, three sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Offensively, he had 25 receptions for 188 yards and one touchdown. Arthur is a tough athlete who works hard at everything he does, making him worthy of the spotlight.
Connor Hinkle | Mountain Range | 5’11” | OLB/RB/P
Hinkle is another tough player with a versatile set of skills. He finished his junior season with three touchdowns and 117 combined yards on offense while tallying 26 tackles on defense. He also stepped up as a punter and a kicker last season. His 36 punts went for a total of 1,378 yards with 11 being dropped within the 20 yard line. As a kicker, he scored seven extra points, three field goals, and had over 900 kickoff yards. Expect Hinkle to bring a high level of competition regardless of where he lines up on the field.
Yohannes Antonio | Denver South | 5’9” | DB
Antonio is the one player on this list who primarily sticks to one side of the ball, but he is consistently improving his craft. His coverage skills have grown immensely during this extended offseason as a result of training and competing against some of the top talent in the state. Antonio is a sleeper whose stock is on a rapid incline.
DeShon Gallegos | Skyview | 5’11” | WR/CB/QB
Gallegos is one of the top returning players who will be competing in the 4A classification this spring. He is a plug-and-play type of athlete who made plays all over the field as a receiver, cornerback, and special teams returner last year. He completed his junior season with close to 500 all-purpose yards, four touchdowns, one sack, one interception, and one safety. Gallegos is a player who is on track to have a standout senior season this spring.
Rulbe Alvarado | Basalt | 5’7” | WR/DB/K
Alvarado will be competing in the 3A classification this spring. Last season, he tallied 60 tackles and five pass breakups as a defender, 13 receptions for 257 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver, and scored three extra points as a kicker. Alvarado is an athlete who is willing to help his team out by playing three different positions, making him a player to keep an eye on.
