Based on some research, I believe you’ll see some changes after the next rankings update by Prep Redzone. For now, let’s look at where things stand in the 2022 New Jersey Football Prospect Rankings.
Today we look at New Jersey’s top players from No. 55 to No. 46.
No. 55 Myles Thomason Myles Thomason 5'9" | RB Seton Hall Prep | 2022 NJ Ι 5-9 Ι 165 Ι Running Back Ι Seton Hall Prep
Thomason carried the football 87 times for 422 yards (4.9 ypc) and two touchdowns in six games last season. He has what I call football speed. Thomason isn’t a burner on the field, but his vision, toughness, and ability to break tackles help make up for it. He is the No. 10 running back in his class.
No. 54 Jaiden Brown Jaiden Brown 5'11" | 215 lbs | LB Southern | 2022 NJ Ι 5-11 Ι 220 Ι Linebacker Ι Southern HS
Brown, who is the No. 8 linebacker in the state, had a great season on offense. He rushed for 1,091 yards and scored 14 total touchdowns last year. I love his north-south running style. He showed me enough to suggest him being ranked as a running back.
No. 53 Chris Corbo Chris Corbo 6'3" | WR West Essex | 2022 State NJ Ι 6-5 Ι 210 Ι Wide Receiver Ι West Essex HS
We have Corbo rated as a wide receiver, but his 2020 season suggests he is a legit athlete too. Corbo caught 16 passes for 245 yards (15.3 ypc) on offense. On defense, he caught three interceptions and made 59 total tackles. He plays tight end and safety. He has the frame where he can put on that good weight. He should get stronger with a college-level strength and conditioning program. Carbo is the No. 4 wide receiver in New Jersey and he has an offer from Harvard.
No. 52 Jayden Myers Jayden Myers 5'9" | DB North Brunswick | 2022 NJ Ι 5-9 Ι Defensive Back Ι North Brunswick HS
After watching his highlights, I’m not ready to write Myers off as a wide receiver at the next level. He plays defensive back and is the No. 9 defensive back in the state.
No. 51 Dominick Verducci Dominick Verducci 5'11" | RB Parsippany Hills | 2022 NJ Ι 5-11 Ι Running Back Ι Parsippany Hills
He is the No. 9 running back in the state.
No. 50 Timmy Hinspeter Timmy Hinspeter 6'1" | LB Don Bosco | 2022 State NJ Ι 6-1 Ι 210 Ι Linebacker Ι Don Bosco
It only took a few plays from Hinspeter’s highlights for me to see that he is a hard-hitting tackling machine. His reaction speed to the ball is crazy. Hinspeter plays outside linebacker for Don Bosco but will most likely play middle linebacker at the next level. He is the No. 7 linebacker in the state.
No. 49 Alex Brown Alex Brown 6'3" | QB Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ Ι 6-3 Ι Quarterback Ι Mater Dei
Brown is a solid dual-threat quarterback prospect. He’s a pass-first player. I have to admit though; he looks like he would do crazy damage if he ran the football more. He is the No. 7 quarterback in New Jersey.
No. 48 Charlie Sasso Charlie Sasso 6'1" | LB Wall | 2022 State NJ Ι 6-1 Ι Linebacker Ι Wall
Sasso racked up 97 total tackles (17 solos), intercepted one pass, and sacked the quarterback three times during the 2020 season. His performance on the field was enough to earn him defensive player of the year honors. Sasso has an offer from Monmouth. He should have several more before the start of next season. He is the No. 6 linebacker in the state.
No. 47 Paul Lefkowitz Paul Lefkowitz 5'10" | 215 lbs | RB St. Peter's Prep | 2022 NJ Ι 5-10 Ι 215 Ι Running Back Ι St. Peter’s Prep
Lefkowitz carried the football 68 times for 463 yards (6.8 ypc) and two touchdowns in six games last season. He is the No. 8 running back in his class.
No. 46 Dashawn Lawton Dashawn Lawton 5'11" | WR West Side | 2022 State NJ Ι 5-11 Ι 165 Ι Defensive Back Ι West Side
It’s a big disservice to Lawnton not to recognize him as an athlete. I am impressed with his play as a wide receiver on his highlights. He is the No. 8 defensive back in the state.
