Based on some research, I believe you’ll see some changes after the next rankings update by Prep Redzone. For now, let’s look at where things stand in the 2022 New Jersey Football Prospect Rankings.
Today we look at New Jersey’s players from No. 65 to No. 56.
No. 65 Marcus Johnson Marcus Johnson 6'4" | 215 lbs | DL Cranford | 2022 State NJ Ι 6-5 Ι 215 Ι Defensive Lineman Ι Woodrow Wilson HS
Johnson is the No. 14 defensive lineman, but that will most likely change with the next update. Johnson, who plays defensive end, has an offer from Boston College, Central Michigan, Temple, and Virginia Tech.
No. 64 Stephan Gural Ι 6-2 Ι 200 Ι Linebacker Ι Phillipsburg HS
Gural, who plays middle linebacker for his team, accounted for 53 total tackles in seven games. He is the No. 10 linebacker in the state.
No. 63 Ben Romano Ben Romano 6'2" | WR Hun | 2022 NJ Ι 6-2 Ι 195 Ι Athlete Ι The Hun School
In four games, Romano caught 9 passes for 195 yards and two receiving touchdowns. He is the No. 4 athlete in the state. Romano is also a Tulane baseball commit for its 2022 recruiting class.
No. 62 Nick Paterno Nick Paterno 5'9" | OL Bernards | 2022 NJ Ι 5-9 Ι 220 Ι Offensive Lineman Ι Bernards HS
Yes, Paterno is an undersized lineman who plays the center position. That hurts his recruitment. However, if college coaches can focus on the way he plays on the field, there’s a spot for him somewhere at the next level. Paterno is technically sound, he finishes his blocks, and plays with aggressiveness. He is the No. 3 offensive lineman in the state.
No. 61 Anthony Kaspereen Anthony Kaspereen 6'4" | 290 lbs | DL New Providence | 2022 NJ Ι 6-4 Ι 270 Ι Defensive Lineman Ι New Providence HS
Kaspereen is a versatile defensive lineman that can play both tackle and end positions. I think he gets off the ball faster when he’s lined up inside. He is the No. 13 defensive lineman in the state.
No. 60 Tristan Garcia Tristan Garcia 6'1" | WR Somerville | 2022 NJ Ι 6-1 Ι 210 Ι Wide Receiver Ι Somerville HS
Garcia played only two games this past season because of COVID-19. He is the No. 5 wide receiver in the state for now. However, I can see him being switched to outside linebacker in our rankings during the next update. Outside linebacker is the position that they feature him in the most of his highlights.
No. 59 N/A
No. 58 Cael Zebrowski Cael Zebrowski 6'1" | QB Verona | 2022 NJ Ι 6-2 Ι 190 Ι Quarterback Ι Verona HS
Zebrowski has won 24-out-of-29 games as a three-year starter for Verona. He completed 85-out-of-134 passes for 1,354 yards, 13 touchdowns, and zero interceptions in seven games last season. Zebrowski, who is the No. 8 quarterback in the state, completed an impressive 63% of his passes. He also added 181 rushing yards and five touchdowns off 38 carries (4.8 ypc).
No. 57 Bryson Bright Bryson Bright 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Willingboro | 2022 NJ Ι 6-3 Ι 220 Ι Linebacker Ι Willingboro HS
Bright, who plays outside linebacker, had his season cut to four games because of COVID-19. He is getting some interest from Yale and UConn. Bright, who also plays the running back position, is the No. 9 linebacker in the state. After watching his highlights, I can see him being plugged into the middle linebacker position as the next level.
