Based on some research, I believe you’ll see some changes after the next rankings update by Prep Redzone. For now, let’s look at where things stand in the 2022 New Jersey Football Prospect Rankings.
Today we look at New Jersey’s players from No. 75 to No. 66.
No. 75 Semaj Black Semaj Black 5'10" | RB Timber Creek | 2022 NJ Ι 5-10 Ι 195 Ι Running Back Ι Winslow Township HS
Black played both running back and outside linebacker last season. He has a little quickness to him, but still needs to develop his overall speed. Black is the No. 14 running back in the state.
No. 74 Owen Haughney Owen Haughney 6'1" | QB Old Bridge | 2022 NJ Ι 6-1 Ι 194 Ι Quarterback Ι Old Bridge HS
Haughney is the No. 9 quarterback in the state. During the 2020 season, he completed 41-out-of-91 passes for 759 yards, eight touchdowns, and four interceptions in six games. He’ll want to improve his completion percentage (45%). Haughney helped lead his team to a 5-1 record.
No. 73 Bobby Colaneri Bobby Colaneri 5'10" | LB Becton | 2022 NJ Ι 5-10 Ι Linebacker Ι Becton HS
Colaneri posted 37 total tackles and three sacks in six games for Becton this past season. He is the No. 13 linebacker in the state.
No. 72 N/A
No. 71 Hunter Freschi Hunter Freschi 5'9" | RB Hasbrouck Heights | 2022 NJ Ι 5-9 Ι 180 Ι Running Back Ι Hasbrouck Heights HS
Freschi is the No. 13 running back in the state.
No. 70 Nate Committee Nate Committee 6'1" | DL Southern | 2022 NJ Ι 6-1 Ι 200 Ι Defensive Line Ι Southern HS
Committee, who plays defensive end for the football team, committed to play Division I lacrosse at Bellarmine University. He is the No. 15 defensive lineman in the state.
No. 69 Mike Lanza Ι 5-8 Ι 190 Ι Running Back Ι Bernards HS
Lanza carried the football 102 times for 641 yards (6.3 ypc) and 10 rushing touchdowns this past season. He posted three 100-plus yards games and was a big part of the reason Bernards finished with a 6-1 record.
No. 68 Marcus Granadeiro Marcus Granadeiro 5'10" | LB South River | 2022 NJ Ι 5-10 Ι 215 Ι Linebacker Ι South River Middle HS
They credited Granadeiro with 76 total tackles from his middle linebacker position last season. If he continues to work on his overall speed and quickness, he’ll become a better college football prospect. He’s ranked as the No. 12 linebacker in the state.
No. 67 Jacob Brennan Jacob Brennan 5'10" | DL Pope John XXIII | 2022 NJ Ι 6-1 Ι 255 Ι Offensive Lineman Ι Pope John XXIII HS
He’s ranked as an offensive lineman, but they featured Brennan as a nose guard for his high school team. After looking at his highlights, his ceiling is clearly on the defensive side of the football. We’ll have to make a change.
No. 66 Trevor Hillier Trevor Hillier 6'2" | LB West Morris | 2022 NJ Ι 6-2 Ι 195 Ι Linebacker Ι West Morris HS
They thrust Hillier into the starting quarterback position during the third game of last season. That didn’t take away from his production as an outside linebacker. Hillier could still account for 53 total tackles. On offense, he threw for 751 yards, rushed for 235 yards, rushed for four touchdowns, and three touchdown passes. That’s a lot of work. Hillier is the No. 11 linebacker in the state.
