All of which were highly productive and showcased legit ball hawk ability. Although not all of them have film uploaded yet, their stat definitely worthy to take notice of. Here’s a look at 5 the top 5 ball hawks of the week:
Spencer Kuffel Spencer Kuffel 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Tigard | 2021 State OR , 6’1″ 195lbs, Tigard HS (C/O 2021)
Kuffel had a big night as he snagged 3 INT’s and took one to the house for a TD. He excelled in the 2-high safety look, and showcased his ball hawk ability all night. He shows good instincts with a quick transition out of his backpedal for a quick break on the ball. He displayed excellent recovery speed on a vert where he was able to track down and snag an INT one handed. Good ball skills all around with big potential, and also added 8 tackles on the night.
Malik Ross Malik Ross 6'0" | 190 lbs | ATH Tualatin | 2022 State OR , 6’0″ 190lbs, Tualatin HS (C/O 2022)
Ross was a flat out playmaker on both sides of the ball. On defense, he was able to snag 2 INT’s to help Tualatin beat North Medford 41-28. He is a very athletic kid all across the board, and a quickly up and coming prospect. He reads the QB’s eyes well and shows excellent route and concept recognition. He had a clutch INT in the endzone which saved a TD. Loose hips with a solid change of direction, and should continue to turn some heads.
Riley Weddle, 5’11″ 160lbs, West Albany HS (C/O 2021)
Weddle had a huge night, also with a trio of interceptions as he picked off 3 Corvallis passes. A solid defensive performance overall, Weddle highly contributed to the 34-14 West Albany victory over Corvallis. If he continues on the same trajectory, he will definitely be a dangerous kid to throw against going forward. No game film as of yet.
Austin Marler, 6’0″ 150lbs, Sweet Home HS (C/O 2021)
Yet another senior who was able to have a massive performance, ad Marler also recorded 3 INT’s on the game. Sweet Home’s defense set the tone all night, as they beat Stayton High 28-10. Marler’s 3 INT game solidified himself as a player to take note of, and will look to carry that momentum into next week. No game film as of yet.
Shane Tacla, 5’9″ 160lbs, Wilsonville HS (C/O 2021)
Tacla stepped up big for Wilsoville as he had a 99 yard INT that he took to the house, as Wilsoville was able to handle Beaverton on a 30-14 victory. Tacla has room to put on size, but stepped up when he needed to this past week. No game film as of yet.
