Not only did they have plenty of start studded players, but their lineup was deep on both sides of the ball. This made it interesting when they faced off against some of the top teams in the state. Undoubtedly, the Broncos have one of the most talented rosters in the state, but one of the major questions is if their talent is mature enough to manifest their full potential. Going into the 2021 season, expect the Broncos to have another strong season, with plenty of their star players returning. Below, we have listed some of our favorite returners for their team next season.
Marquis Groves-Killebrew Marquis Groves-Killebrew 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Brookwood | 2022 State GA – CB
It’s no secret that Groves-Killebrew will be returning next season for the Broncos. In fact, it’s also no secret that he is one of the best prospects in the entire 2022 class. Perhaps, what sets him apart from most players in the state is his overall ability to cover. Not only is he effective in man coverage, but he is also a game changer in zone coverage as well. With this, Groves-Killebrew also has awesome speed and burst, which allows him to position himself well at all times. His ability to flip his hips, mirror defenders, and to limit wasted movement along with this makes it hard for anyone to gain separation from him in coverage. Part of his success in doing so is due to his footwork, and quickness out of his breaks. He also has great sink and bend, and is explosive once the ball is in his hands. Don’t think he isn’t physical either, because Groves-Killebrew has also proven to be effective when he delivers blows on opposing receivers. Because of all of these things, look for him to have another strong season this upcoming year.
Dylan Lonergan Dylan Lonergan 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Brookwood | 2023 State GA – QB
Lonergan, who has been seeing even more traction in the recruiting game, has high expectations going into next season. Not only will he be looking to increase his recruiting stock, but Lonergan will also be looking to make it as far as he possibly can in the playoffs. Lonergan has plenty of upside as a QB, as he not only has the stature to play the position at the next level, but he has the pocket presence, and throwing mechanics to make the clean, and quick releases necessary in college. He also has the arm strength, and arm talent to make various levels of throws throughout the field, including some throws that most recruiters would deem college level passes. His vision of the field is also great for his age, and his ability to fit passes into tight windows should excited recruiters as he enters into his Junior season. Expect Lonergan to take off next season, and to continue to make a name for himself across the state, and nationally, as he leads the Broncos yet again with his arm, and legs.
De’Nylon Morrissette De’Nylon Morrissette 6'1" | 200 lbs | WR Brookwood | 2022 State GA – WR
Listed at 6’2, 200 pounds, Morrissette is a dominant receiver with some of the physical traits that college coaches often times look for. He has the balance, quick feet, and burst that allows him to get open on various routes, and his stick move on his routes allows him to gain great separation. With this, not only is he good out of his breaks, but he also has limited false steps. When running routes, Morrissette also does a great job of stacking defenders, and even boxing them out when he goes up for jump balls. His ability to stop and go, and change direction on the dime also makes him very dangerous, and will certainly translate well at the next level. With this, he also catches the ball with strong hands, and displays consistency with his body control. Next season, look for him to continue to build on top of his current success, and to be a key player for the Broncos yet again.
Andre Stewart Andre Stewart 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Brookwood | 2022 State GA – CB
On the opposite side of Marquis Groves Killebrew is Andre Stewart Andre Stewart 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Brookwood | 2022 State GA , who has made quite the name for himself as well. Stewart, who is a bit of a longer corner, also has the quickness, and fluid movement skills that college programs look for. In fact, he has the D1 offers to prove it. Along with this, Stewart has great burst and speed in coverage, and proves that he can handle zone responsibilities well, even if it means coming up to make a tackle, or positioning himself in the receiver’s hip pocket as to make key stops. While he can get caught looking at times in zone coverage, he also shows that he is physical enough to hold his own, and to not allow big plays
