Class 2A-1A Top Reception Dogs
Kansas High School Football for most programs is still run first, throw second, but here is a look at some of the reception leaders from Class 2A and 1A schools.
These five players are all in the class of 2022 and will be looking to improve their skills this offseason at combines and camps.
Frank Wichert, 5’10”, 160, Hillsboro – Wichert is a talented wideout heading into his senior season. He finished his junior campaign with 25 receptions for of which were for touchdowns. He is quick off the line and has soft hands. Wichert averaged 50-plus yards receiving per game for the Hillsboro Trojans.
Gannon Remer, 6’1”, 200, Sliver Lake – Remer is a scoring machine and a player to watch in 2021. He plays running backs, but he is a threat in the passing game as he had 20 receptions in 2020. He had eight touchdown receptions and rushed for five more. Remer also kicks and plays free safety.
Jace Wentling, 6’1”, 180, Hays TMP – Here is a young man to follow closely in 2021. At six-foot-one and with a solid vertical, Wentling is a big target for the Monarchs. He made 21 catches in his junior season, seven of which went for touchdowns. Wentling also chipped in 54 tackles on defense and had two interceptions.
Anders Dewey, 5’11”, 160, Plainville – Dewey caught 22 balls for 376 yards in 2020 for the Plainville Cardinals. He is a solid route runner and scored three times on receptions. Dewey can be the main target of an offense as he had a season-high six catches against Inman.
Toby Miller, 6’0”, 165, Lyndon – Miller made 16 receptions during his junior season. The bulk of his production came in a five-catch, 102-yard game against Olpe. He has an athletic frame and is well-coached. Look for him to possibly double his numbers in 2021.
