Class of ’22 Watch List
Even though we recently updated the Class of ’22 Player Rankings; we’re always looking to add more talented players. The goal is to continue growing the rankings with each update, and to get these young men as much exposure as possible. With that said, these are 10 players that should make their way into the next round of rankings.
Ashton Dowell – Hoxie, 6’1”, 170, QB
Dowell made significant improvements during his second season under center. All of his numbers increased across the board, and he cut down on turnovers. During his junior year he accumulated over 2,200 yards of total offense and scored 32 total touchdowns.
Zach Atkins – Blue Valley Southwest, 6’4”, 180, WR
Atkins is another talented wide out in a loaded class for receivers. He can make difficult catches through contact and he’ll win jump balls. Atkins has the potential to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving during his senior year.
Sam Kleidosty – Tonganoxie, 5’11”, 185, ATH
Kleidosty was a do it all player for the Chieftains in 2020. Between offense and special teams, he racked up over 500 all-purpose yards and scored five total touchdowns. Kleidosty also chipped in 37 total tackles and one interception on defense.
Zach Knowlton – Spring Hill, 5’8”, 160, ATH
Knowlton is a dynamic player that can affect all three phases of the game. Spring Hill likes to get the ball in his hands, whether it be in the slot, out of the backfield, or as a return man. I’d expect an even higher usage rate for him during his senior year.
Ryan Feldkamp – Jefferson County North, 6’5”, 220, TE
Feldkamp is one of the top blocking tight ends in the state regardless of classification level. He also has the potential to be a receiving threat his senior year. Feldkamp has the frame to out jump defenders, and he is a big target in the red zone.
Dajini Brooks – St. Thomas Aquinas, 6’0”, 190, DB
Brooks is a versatile defensive back for the Saints. He’s capable of playing both corner and safety. Brooks isn’t a defensive back that’s scared to tackle either. He also shows flashes of being a dangerous return man.
Kinser Newquist – Hutchison, 5’10”, 165, DB
Newquist is a defender that can play sideline to sideline. He has good closing speed when he’s tracking down ball carriers or when he’s breaking on a pass, and he can see the field very well. Newquist is also a solid tackler.
Brett Sarwinski – Galena, 5’11, 170, QB
Sarwinski is one of the better mobile quarterbacks in this senior class. Galena likes to roll him out a lot on sprint outs or play actions, and Sarwinski can make those throws on the run. He’s decisive and he is quick in the open field.
Brian Lane – Free State, 6’1”, 210, DL
Lane is a very athletic edge defender. He faces the challenge of trying to get past offensive lineman bigger than him, but he doesn’t shy away from this. Lane finds ways to shed blocks and get in the backfield. He’s fast enough to catch ball carriers as well.
Dalton Owen – Concordia, 6’4”, 290, OL
Owen is a tank at left guard. He can clear running lanes with ease; sometimes taking out two defenders at the same time. Owen also has the athleticism to pull, and he is good about being aware of unblocked defenders.
