Continue ReadingDacula High School, which has had their fair share of success over the past few years, managed to make it to the second round of the playoffs during the 2020 football season. Despite the fact that they fell short to Allatoona as they lost 31-6, and also saw plenty of their starters play their last high school game, the future is still bright for the Falcons. Going into next season, they still have plenty of key players that will be returning. This includes key role players, and play makers on both sides of the football. As the 2021 football season kicks off this upcoming August, expect these few players we listed below to be a key part in their team’s success.
Kyle Efford Kyle Efford 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB Dacula | 2022 State GA – LB/RB
Efford, who has received a few Power 5 offers, will be looking to have another successful season in 2021. Not only does he play well on his toes, but he also proves to be able to play the run effectively. While we would like to see him play at a faster pace at times, he has decent anticipation when he takes angles to make tackles when stopping the run. With this, he also has great length, and is able to utilize this to his ability when attempting to stop a ball carrier who is almost out of reach. Moving forward, we would like to see Efford play with more tenacity, and to be able to play the pass more effectively. He has flashes of burst and explosive ability, but we would also like to see him use this more consistently.
Ulysses Jenkins- CB / WR
When watching Jenkins, it is evident that he is a natural football player. Not only does he have decent value at the CB position, but he moves like a small college DB as well. Even though he can be a bit raw when flipping his hips, he does a decent job of getting out of his breaks due to his footwork, and burst. Jenkins explosive ability allows him to position himself well in man coverage, and when paired with his ball skills, can also result in turnovers. He also has fluid movement skills for the most part, and his ability to play effectively with his crossover run also helps him in coverage. His quick feet are a big strength of his, and moving forward you can expect him to capitalize on this, and to further develop in his overall ability to exceed as CB.
Rashawn Hawkins- RB
While Hawkins is a bit of a smaller back, his shiftiness and burst allows him to make plays and gain necessary yards for his offense. Hawkins may not be a home run threat each time he touches the ball, but he runs through contact well, and protects the football. With this, he also shows that he can catch the ball cleanly and get up field, making it harder for high school defenses to stop him. Next season, expect him to get more touches, and to add more weight to his frame to assist him with any success that he has due to his running style.
Ethan Adcock- S
While Adcock may be a young player, he’s proven to be able to play his role on the defense pretty well when his number is called upon. Not only is he not afraid to step up and play physically, but he also does a good job in zone coverage. He is unafraid of contact, and can use his hands to rip off of blocks if needed as well. Adcock does a decent job of taking good tackling angles as well, but we would like to see him be quicker on his feet and smoother in his movement skills when approaching receivers or ball carriers. Going into the 2021 season, even though he has a developmental size and frame, one can expect him to continue to develop into his body more and to receive more playing time on the defensive side of the football.
