Finish 8-3 in Vero Beach and the questions start pouring in about the Indians and head coach Lenny Jankowski’s football program. But before you start to throw in the red, black and white towel, take a step back and take a breath.
Remember, this is Vero Beach – and even in an 8-3 season – where they beat Port St. Lucie (35-0), St. Lucie Centennial (34-7), Stuart-Martin County (40-3), Fort Pierce Westwood (49-12), Fort Pierce Central (50-7), 8A state finalist Kissimmee Osceola (34-7), Fort Pierce Central again in the playoffs (40-3) and Orlando Boone in the second round of the state playoffs (35-34) – the losses were by one point to Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast, one point to Clearwater Academy International and to just three against Miami Palmetto. Five points from 11-0. Far from being in a panic mode.
This program is not going away. Too much talent and the coaching – led by Jankowski, a 2022 Florida-Georgia Game coach – is as good as you get.
PLAYMAKERS ARE IN PLACE
The one thing you can expect from the Indians are new faces that will impact the program.
This is a team that plays on that rich tradition year-round, and the exposure that they get is as good as you get at this level.
The coaches take these athletes everywhere – when it’s safe – and that is a huge advantage for these quality student/athletes.
Among the 2022 (rising seniors) who will impact the program this coming season include: Risanche Anastasa (OL, 6-0, 340), Jaison Biggoms (OL, 5-11, 283 – https://access.qwikcut.com/highlights/5fac517820cbe8005f40cd13), Nehemia Cross (QB/Athlete, 6-2, 185 – https://www.hudl.com/profile/6469215/Nehemai-Cross), Omarion Davis Omarion Davis OL Vero Beach | 2022 FL (OL, 6-5, 290 – https://access.qwikcut.com/highlights/5f8c9312778271004ab49294), Reggie Ferguson (RB, 6-0, 210), Ephraim Floyd Ephraim Floyd WR Vero BeacharionAm | 2022 FL (CB, 6-0, 170 – https://access.qwikcut.com/highlights/5fce51510973c0002fec358c), Brandon Neely Jr. (DL, 6-4, 265 – https://access.qwikcut.com/highlights/5fcd30f95c43670043d8eda5), James Smith (WR, 6-1, 185 – https://access.qwikcut.com/highlights/5fa8b330cb1afd0051db769e), Chandler Taylor (DL/LB, 5-10, 227 – https://access.qwikcut.com/highlights/5f7c9426ceefef002f14e97a) and Devin Willis (CB, 6-0, 170 – https://access.qwikcut.com/highlights/5f8e1853d1d024003e3b286b)
THE 2023 TALENT IS STRONG
While the rising senior class has some leaders and prospects who have been in some key games and have that experience, the rising juniors in the Class of 2023 are also going to really help in 2021.
Among those athletes are: Fort Pierce Westwood transfer Vandrevius Jacobs (WR, 6-1, 165), Keyshawn Campbell (LB, 6-0, 190), Kezni Brown (OL, 6-2, 275), Dalton Jordan (OL, 6-2, 250), Quincy Rodgers (RB, 5-7, 155), Caren Perez (QB/K, 5-10, 152), Nathan Guinn (DE, 6-5, 215) and Paul Parris (OL/C, 6-3, 235).
