Head coach Mike Adams during the offseason and Farmington hired North Little Rock head coach J.R. Eldridge. Eldridge has won everywhere he has been at from Arkadelphia to North Little Rock. Now Eldridge is going to attempt to lead Farmington deeper into the state playoffs. In the 5-A conference that is not an easy task, especially with Pulaski Academy continuing to rack up state championships. However, the Cardinals are not without talent returning and we are going to look at some of the seniors returning to the Farmington Cardinals.
Caden Elsik Caden Elsik 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB Farmington | 2022 State AR -Running Back
The Cardinals running back sees action on both sides of the ball. Elsik plays the running back as well as the linebacker spot for the Cardinals. He does a great job of picking the rushing lane and shows tremendous patience in picking the rushing lane. Elsik rushed for 1,608 yards and punched the ball in the endzone 15 times. He is rarely brought down on initial contact and it will usually take two or three defenders to bring him down. Elsik will fight for extra yards and try to pick up as many yards as he can when carrying the ball. An underrated facet of his game is his receiving out of the backfield. It is difficult for opposing linebackers to cover him because of his speed and he has the hands to haul in any pass thrown his way. Elsik is a player to keep an eye on this season as he looks to better a terrific 2020 season.
Chase Brown Chase Brown 6'2" | 205 lbs | TE Farmington | 2022 State AR -Tight End
Brown is another player for the Cardinals that could see time playing both ways for the Cardinals. When Farmington targeted Brown last season, he hauled in 23 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns. Brown runs good routes, and he displays enough speed for the opposing secondary to have a difficult time covering him. He has proven to be an unselfish blocker and does not have a problem helping to spring his teammates free for a big play. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the field. Brown has played the linebacker spot for the Cardinals and has accounted for 28 tackles during the course of his career. Brown is a player to keep an eye out for this season. He is 6-2 and 185 pounds and has the frame to support about 15 more pounds. Brown has the potential to have a solid season for the Cardinals.
Mason Dooly Mason Dooly 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Farmington | 2022 State AR -Linebacker
Dooly is one linebacker in Northwest Arkansas that has somehow managed to stay under the radar, all the while being an extremely productive player. Dooly is always around the ball carrier and he does an impressive job of being able to fight off blocks. He will not give up on a play and he will pursue the ball carrier until he makes the tackle. Dolly rarely misses tackles, and his motor is a high one. He does an impressive job of dropping back into pass coverage and he is going to be a player to keep an eye on for the Cardinals. Dooly not only plays the linebacker spot, but he also has seen some time at the center position. The Farmington coaching staff has done a terrific job of making use of Dooly’s athleticism.
