Head Coach Damenyum Springs and his football program soared to an impressive 10-3 season this past pandemic year – and while the wins were impressive – the three setbacks got these young men thinking.
When play starts this coming late summer/early fall, there will be a number of impressive programs that we will be watching across the state, and one of those teams everyone may want to keep a close eye on all spring, summer is this football program.
This team will be loaded – and not just in the senior class – where there are some experienced players returning throughout.
What this coaching staff has built is a program that has talent in all three classes – as they head into the spring, and all the prospects will impress college coaches who will be checking them out more than ever.
The rising seniors have a solid group that found out a lot about this team last season. Prospects such as Caleb Jones (WR, 6-1, 180 – 3.0 GPA), Ricky Joseph (DL, 5-10, 240 – 3.0 GPA), Joseph Stephens (CB, 5-10, 165 – 3.5 GPA), Anthony Timpson (OL, 6-2, 275 – 2.96 GPA), Dedric Walker Dedric Walker 6'3" | 185 lbs | DB Fleming Island | 2022 FL (LB, 6-3, 190 – 3.3 GPA) and Hunter Williams (DE, 6-4, 185 – 3.0 GPA) will be the group that displays the leadership and experience needed.
With wins over Palatka (29-7), Neptune Beach Fletcher (28-20), Orange Park Ridgeview (33-10), St. Johns Creekside (26-23), Jacksonville First Coast (27-7) and Jacksonville Atlantic Coast (35-14) – and Tate (Pensacola), Tallahassee Chiles (23-7) and Jacksonville Atlantic Coast (42-7) in the playoffs, there were so many things that this current junior class learned.
As impressive as the rising senior will be in 2021, this group of 2023 and 2024 rising juniors and sophomores may be one of the best this program has produced.
Quality talent like the well-rounded Darion Domineck (WR, 6-4, 185 – 3.5 GPA), Jhace Edwards (LB, 6-0, 200), Ethan Hoffstetter (OL, 5-10, 220 – 4.0 GPA), Trace Jones (OL, 6-3, 297), T.J. Lawrence (DE/TE, 6-5, 225, 3.2 GPA), Devante Lewis (Athlete, 6-0, 175), Jhoel Robinson (LB, 5-10, 175 – 3.7 GPA), nationally-rated Sam Singleton (RB, 6-0, 185 – 3.0 GPA), Walker Whiddon (LB, 6-0, 180 – 3.0 GPA), Ethan Williams (OL/DL, 6-2, 240), Abraham Wright (Athlete, 6-2, 200 – 3.9 GPA) and promising Michael Zeray (DE, 6-4, 225) give the Class of 2023 something to brag about.
In keeping with the future, the Golden Eagles are also very gifted in the Class of 2024 – where Garrison Butler (DL, 6-2, 240), Joseph Couch (OL/DL), Braden Cunningham (OL, 6-4, 295), Gage Isbell (OL, 6-2, 250), Ladarius Jackson (DL), athletic Cartaveon Valentine and kicker Jake Wilkening are top flight.
