With the first week of the spring season officially in the books, it is time to highlight some of the top rushers from the season openers.

Below is a list of ten players who ran their way onto the leaderboards with their dominant rushing performances. 


Ja’Derris Carr Ja’Derris Carr 5'11" | RB Vista PEAK | 2021 State CO | Vista PEAK | 5’11” | 2021 RB

Carr, the number one ranked senior running back in the Prep Redzone CO rankings and Princeton commit, had 18 carries for 177 yards and four rushing touchdowns in Thursday’s victory. He also finished with one reception for 28 yards and one touchdown.

Jaden Hill | Thomas Jefferson | 6’1” | 2021 ATH

Hill helped his team win their first game with 13 carries for 171 yards and one touchdown. He also had two receptions for 53 yards and one touchdown.

Emilio Garcia | Grand Valley | 5’8” | 2022 RB

Garcia had an explosive opener, finishing with eight carries for 163 yards and four touchdowns in his team’s win on Friday.

Erick Covington Erick Covington 6'1" | QB Gateway | 2021 State CO | Gateway | 6’1” | 2021 QB

Covington and his team may not have gotten the outcome they were expecting, but he finished the contest with 11 carries for 156 yards and one touchdown as a runner, and also threw for one touchdown.

Darius McFarland Darius McFarland RB Falcon | 2022 State CO | Falcon | 5’10” | 2021 RB

McFarland and the Falcons fell a little short in their season debut, but he still went to work with his 16 carries for 145 yards on Friday.

Kaden Wolf | Rifle | 6’2 | 2021 RB

Rifle’s big win in Friday’s season opener was achieved with the help of Wolf’s 15 carries for 127 yards and one touchdown.

Kolbe Vostatek | St. Mary’s | 5’7” | 2021 RB

During Saturday’s opening matchup, Vostatek tallied 20 carries for 124 yards and one touchdown to help his team finish victorious and start their season off with a win.

Gavin Webb | Basalt | 5’10” | 2022 RB

Webb finished Saturday’s contest with five carries for 120 yards and three touchdowns, helping his team win with the second highest margin of the week.

Jewel Cameron | Manual | 5’8” | 2022 RB

The Thunderbolts opened their season with a win during Saturday’s matchup. A matchup in which Cameron finished with 15 carries for 120 yards and one touchdown.

TJ Herebic | The Classical Academy | 6’2” | 2023 RB/MLB

Herebic had a playmaking season opener during his team’s win on Saturday. Offensively, he finished with seven carries for 117 yards and three touchdowns. He also had one one interception while on defense.
