Some 2021 prospects have decided to explore other opportunities ,like prep school and junior college (juco), to give themselves another shot at recruiting for the next recruiting cycles. Here are some of the uncommitted prospects who should make an impact at the next level when given a chance.
Ryan Steinberg Jr. -5’8″ 185lbs – Northwest High School -Running Back
Ryan is a bruising runner with great combination of balance, vision, speed, and determination. The Northwest High running back always seems to make the first man miss, whether it is putting a move on a defender in the open field or running through a defender’s attempted tackle in traffic. If not for an injury hampered junior season and a Covid-shortened season, Steinberg would be touted as one of the state’s top running backs. Ryan is not only dominant on the field, but also dominates in the classroom with a 3.8 grade point average.
Jeremiah Martin – 6’3″ 265lbs – St. Mary’s Ryken High School -Defensive Tackle/ Defensive End
Jeremiah is an All Conference lineman who has the ability to play in a three technique or off the edge. Projects to be more of an edge rusher at the next level, but has the motor and aggressiveness to play in the interior. Martin who boasts a 3.3 grade point average, has already decided to reclassify into the next recruiting cycle by attending Showtime Prep Academy in Maryland this fall.
Andre Proctor – 6’2’’ 185lbs – Magruder High School -Defensive Back
Proctor made the All Montgomery County Second Team as a junior and should have a great senior year. He has the ability to play multiple positions, but will likely play defensive back at the next level. His film shows solid ball skills, a high defensive IQ, and a physical presence in the secondary.
Gregory Burno Gregory Burno 6'0" | 280 lbs | DL Meade | 2021 MD -6’1’’ 280lbs – Meade High School -Defensive Tackle
Burno has great quickness and agility for someone his size. His first step is usually quicker than his offensive counterparts, and allows him to penetrate into the opponents backfield. As a junior, he put up pretty impressive numbers tallying 60 Tackles, 5 sacks, 10 Tackles for a loss, 2 Forced Fumbles, 2 Fumble Recoveries, 1 interception, and 1 Touchdown which allowed him to earn First Team All Arundel County honors.
Amonte Dreher – Dunbar High School (DC) -Quarterback
Dreher is dual threat QB with a strong arm, great vision, and quick feet. Not only does the Dunbar QB destroy defenses with his feet, he keeps plays alive when the pocket breaks down and looks to get the ball downfield to his receivers. He was named the District of Columbia Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA) 2019 Player of the Year and earned All State honors as a junior.
Mekhi Todman – 5’11’’ 160lbs – Blake High School -Defensive Back / Wide Receiver
Mekhi is a ball-hawking defensive back who has the versatility to play anywhere in the secondary. He smothers receivers in man to man coverage, and breaks on the ball very well. Todman’s film also shows that he is a consistent open field tackler and is effective in run support.
