Despite the fact that they lost to Lowndes in early December, it can be said that the team’s future is very bright. The team finished with an 11-1 record, and will be looking to replicate that same success in 2021, with a chance of making it to the state championship. We here at Prep Redzone strongly believe that Milton is an underrated program, and that they have a real shot at winning it all next year. One of the reasons we feel this way is due to their strong roster, and the players that they will be returning to their lineup next year. Below, we have listed a few of our favorites.
Devin Farrell Devin Farrell 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Milton | 2022 State GA – QB
To start, the Eagles will have the leader of their offense returning for the 2021 season. This alone will help the productivity of the team due to the fact that Farrell has plenty of traits that translate into his ability to help his team win games. The Virginia Tech commit not only has a very strong arm, but he has the quick release and ball placement when the ball leaves his hands. One of the most attractive things about his ability is that fact that he can do all of this while he is on the run, and he can make great throws outside of the pocket. He shows that he has decent accuracy as well, and that he can hit on the deep passes down field. One thing we would like to see more of is his ability to make accurate, intermediate level passes, but regardless, we feel that the sky is the limit when it comes to Farrell, and that he is certainly talented enough to win a state championship.
Lebbeus Overton Lebbeus Overton 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Milton | 2022 GA – DE
Overton, who is one of the better DE’s in the entire state of Georgia, is uncommitted to this point of the recruiting process, but will likely end up at a top tier Power 5 Program. On the field, Overton not only has an explosive lower body, but he shows that he can get off of the line quickly, and efficiently with his use of hands, and footwork. He also shows that he is great at creating separation with the extension of his arms. Paired with this, his dominating strength, size, and frame undoubtedly makes it harder for offensive linemen to stop him. Overton has also shown that he can deliver a great pop on contact, and that he is not scared of being physical. He is efficient as a pass rusher, and run stopper, and can be seen to make plays in pursuit as well. His athleticism certainly sets him apart and will be one of the key factors that contributes to his success at the next level. Expect him to show out this season.
Jack Nickel Jack Nickel 6'4" | 230 lbs | TE Milton | 2022 State GA – TE
Nickel is not only one of the top ranked TE’s in Georgia’s 2022 class, but he is also one of the top TE recruits in the entire county. Due to this, Nickel has been highly recruited, and has also elected to play football at Notre Dame after he graduates. When evaluating him on tape, he not only uses his length, size, and frame to his ability when running routes, but he also shows that his athleticism helps him to generate good separation for big time receptions and gains. He has good hands, and can catch the ball cleanly, and also has fluidity to his movement skills when he gets out of his breaks. Nickel is also great at blocking, as he does a great job transferring his weight in his blocks, while also staying on his toes enough to maneuver defenders, and engage them cleanly when they attempt to move around him. Moving forward, expect Nickel to look to add more weight to his frame to help him prepare for the next level. Nonetheless, he will also be a key contributor to the Eagle’s office this upcoming season.
Jordan McDonald Jordan McDonald 6'1" | 215 lbs | RB Milton | 2022 State GA – RB
McDonald, who has a the ideal side and frame for a RB, will also be returning to Milton’s lineup next year, and will be looking to add even more Power 5 offers to his list. When toting the rock, McDonald is a bit of a slasher when it comes to his RB style. He has great balance, and good short area quickness, burst, and vision that allows him to adjust to plays at the line of scrimmage, and to pick up great yards on the ground. His footwork helps to add on to his reaction time to what he sees, and ultimately results in big gains and touchdowns. While we love his burst out of the backfield and the way he can turn the corner, we also love his ability to catch the ball as well. Not only does this make it hard for defenders to match up with him, but it also adds another positive dimension to the team’s offense.
